Awesome unit
It does the claimed RMS and more. 100% would buy again if needed in the future(seeing as how I already have one and all LoL)

Underpowered and produces popping sounds
I bought this amp to replace a 400W plate amp and expected it to handle the power better. After disassembling the old plate amp from the sub, I couldn't help but notice the new amp has much smaller capacitors. I thought nothing of it as this one is rated 100W higher so it should be fine. After a few movies and my return window closing, I decided to watch Hans Zimmer Live in Prague. This amp does well enough for short burst of usage, but for sustained performances... It falls short. I can only assume it does not have the capacitor to pump up the peak wattage for bass heavy media, and that's it's entire purpose. When it starts getting strained it starts popping every 5 or so seconds. Highly disappointed.

Back to the Future
These are great. I bought some old Cerwin Vega 18’s for cheap. These plates amps drive them perfectly and the DSP allows you to tune them in well. I will buy more of these for other projects in the future!

Great technology but weak output
Bought this plate amp a while back and paired it with my Alpine S-W10D4 my thinking along the lines of being a good match. But at 4 ohms it made a 4 inch subwoofer look like a heavy hitter. I resorted to just switching my Subwoofer to 2 ohms (big no no!) and now get the sound at somewhat the level I was expecting. However I often make the limit light flash on the plate amp and still don't get the sound I expect. However! It has to be said this is a 4 ohm plate amp that I'm over driving with a subwoofer at 2 ohms and it's yet to burn out! I do of course get buzzing and other issues but given I don't have another adequate sub I just enjoy it from time to time. That being said I do have to say I'm disappointed by the materials provided by Dayton detailing 500W seemingly as RMS as it's the only number detailed even 520W according to their measurements with no other numbers but my experience is that's more like peak!

Needs Improvement! Buyer Beware!
Purchased this from PE directly. This amp is a bit dangerous with no back box and ungrounded IEC power connection. If/when it dies, it could pose a fire hazard if mounted in a cabinet without some sort of physical isolation from damping material/cabinet material. Poses shock hazard if sil-pad on amp module fails. Amp module is a Chinese knock off of an IcePower module. Software is a bit finicky and relies on dotnet 3.5 to operate. Will quickly become obsolete if PE doesn’t update the software to not rely on outdated Microsoft plugins.
