I purchased this laser 10 months ago. It was my first laser and I knew next to nothing. While it did take awhile to assemble (there's video instructions somewhere on YouTube that helped a lot), once I got it together and started learning Lightburn, I was able to go from a complete novice to kind of knowing what I was doing relatively quickly. Over the next year I kept practicing and progressed to making keepsake boxes that I sell! What prompted me to write this review, however, was that my laser stopped working on Christmas day. I went to power it on and the control board started smoking. I unplugged it and contacted Ortur customer service, not expecting to hear back for awhile due to the holidays and the fact that their website said they would have limited customer support until the first week in January. To my surprise I got a response the next day! Customer service was straight and to the point. Within a few days they had determined the motherboard was the problem and agreed to send me a new one under the one year warranty. It was coming from China, and I was advised it could take over a month with regular shipping, and a few weeks with expedited. I chose expedited, expecting to pay at least $20. Instead, they didn't charge me at all and I received my replacement motherboard in 4 DAYS! From China! I am extremely impressed with Orturs customer service, especially during the Christmas/New Years week. My replacement motherboard is installed and my laser is up and running again! I recommend this product on it's merit alone, with a bonus being phenomenal customer service. Thank you Ortur!

I like the laser itself - cuts through .125” basswood in one pass. If I fault it for anything, it is just this: the assembly instructions are more than a bit difficult to follow and a bit lacking in details. I have a background in assembling, using and maintaining industrial grade CNC metalworking machinery, but this machine was a challenge to figure out how to assemble. Fortunately I have assembled a few desktop lasers and 3d printers so I wasn’t completely lost. It is a very nice and powerful machine, but it really could stand to have the instructions improved.

Works well but needs better cable management. Sometimes the cables get caught between the laser head and the frame causing issues.

I write this from my own experience, the product works great and does what I expect of it. One week after using it the Focusing leg and Module failed. I love this feature but it no longer works. Could be easily remedied buy replacing the lower plastic bezel of the module where the focus leg attaches with a replacement. Problem is this company in my opinion does not sell parts for their products. A $300 to $400+ dollar system should be supported by the manufacturer to provide repair parts as needed. Any competent manufacturer will provide parts! Ortur will not even respond to my question via email. I have been in contact with support, and once they find out what I need they go silent. These units will have part failures, they see a lot of mileage if you use them like I do. I cannot justify spending $300+ dollars on any tool with no prospect of repairing it. It appears that Ortur see's these as disposable! not repairable.

If you want to personalize gifts and be the star at the Christmas or birthday gifts reveal this is an easy unit to do so. I downloaded the free trial of lightburn and it runs like it was designed specifically for the Ortur. I've cut out custom pickguards for guitars and gave personalized monogrammed cutting boards and ornaments for gifts...a total hit!!!
