Old and Middle English c.890-c.1450: An Anthology, 3rd Edition (Blackwell Anthologies)

Very helpful, lots in it. But warning INSANELY HEAVY especially in a backpack or handbag. Obviously there's lots in it, it's an anthology but I was unprepared. Pages aren't thin like you'd expect - which probably contributes to the weight - but so necessary!

One of the 'got to have' books for students as it covers the major works. You should read this before attempting independent translations.

I would recommend this anthology to anyone interested in or studying old and middle English. Although an anthology cannot incorporate everything of note, this one features extracts from or entire texts of the most important works, especially in relation to old English. What's more, the translations accompanying the old English texts are generally very precise and helpful to the student.

Includes most of the most important/interesting Old English texts with great translations and a good intro. Highly recommended for anyone studying Old English
