Purchased to replace a 2 year old failed version - New one is an improvement in battery life!
I originally purchased a TC-1 about 2 years ago. It seemed to never want to hold a charge, but other than that it behaved well and did accurate measurements of anything I connected to it. I did replace the battery pack last year, thinking it was the problem, but the new replacement never seemed to hold a charge for more than 2 days either. A month or so ago, I went to use it, and nothing, dead, wouldn't even work with a charger attached nor would it take a charge. I decided to try a new one because these testers are incredibly handy, and a good value ( when working) and was surprised when it arrived with a functioning charge of over 4 volts, AND, testing it over a few weeks the charge did not go down much at all and it worked well. I am much happier with the replacement for sure, and have already harvested the ZIF socket on the old one for other projects.

Indicates which wire on a transistor is what...
Works great.First you need to calibrate it. A piece is provided that has 3 prongs linked together. Insert those into slots 1, 2, 3, and press the start button. You'll see it testing. When the percentage reaches 20%, remove the 3 prongs. To test a transistor, insert into 1,2,3 using the leads that are provided. Press Start, and it will indicate which wire is collector, emitter, base.Test resistors and diodes (LEDs) with slots 1 and 2.

Flimsy but works nicely
For a truly cheap tester this thing seems to work really well…very much worth the minimal cost.

awesome tester for basic electronic components
I really like this unit. Mainly I'm unable to read color codes on the parts, so this is great to pop the parts in and get a quick result. Easier than a multimeter, since you have the ZIF socket and test leads.Amazed that it is self polarizing, ie. diodes and transistors.Note for those that are looking for the manual, it's on this page under "Product guides and documents" , download the PDF.Totally worth it for the price and functions.

Handy
Inexpensive, accuracy is good. Easy to use, But I wish test leads were a little heavier and longer
