A bit of a faff when you first get your griddle, but worth it in the long run!
This is a really nice cast iron griddle plate. However, it’s important to know how to care for cast iron in general and the required steps to take to ‘prep’ your cast iron griddle (better known as ‘seasoning’ it) and as I said, it’s important to take these steps in order to get the full potential of your griddle, and to avoid problems with it in the future, which you WILL run into if you skip these nexts steps!First off, i out my oven on 230 and while that was pre heating, I washed my griddle in some nice hot soapy water. Once that was throughly dry, I put it in the oven to heat it up (if it’s not heated first, you’ll run into some issues) and once that was heated, I put a ‘thin’ (important that it’s a thin and even coat) coating of vegetable oil all over it, including the handles, and I wiped any excess oil off with a cloth (quick, so it doesn’t burn, it will be hot!) so that it didn’t pool up in any way, that I put it upside down in my oven for one hour. This creates a nice film coating for your cast iron. After you’ve done this step, it’s advised you cook greasy things if you can help it to begin with, to help create a film for your cast iron. You don’t *full on* wash it after every single use, otherwise you’ll wash off all that coating you created (you certainly don’t want to dishwash it) I understand some will feel the need to do always wash it, so if you do, put another layer of oil on it after you’ve washed it to give it the coating back that you’ve washed off.Hope this helps, it really does make a difference in the performance of your griddle pan and it’s condition, I saw some complaints on here about peoples griddles being in bad condition after the first use, and that’s because they didn’t do these steps :)Happy cooking :)

Excellent dose the job well
Great bit of kit for the Bbq .I had been looking for replacement racks for the bbq and at a price £70 each this works out a lot cheaper and works a treat.

Ideal gift.
Purchased as a birthday gift and the recipient loves it. Great for cooking all different meats and vegetables on, giving you those lovely charred lines across, flip it over for frying eggs etc. Great, heavy, well made item.

Don’t bother
This has been the worst product I’ve ever had from amazon. After 1 use and 1 clean, it went all rusty orange and we had to throw it away; it was unusable.

Very Useful and well made
This is a perfectly good cast iron griddle, as with all black iron, it's completely non-stick and doesn't leave a black residue on the food. You do need to prepare it though, these aren't like non-stick frying pans.I coated mine in salt and heated it up until the salt started to brown, then rubbed it off over the sink with a wad of kitchen roll. (It's very hot). This cleans off any residue left on from the manufacturer and general dirt,Then I rubbed it with oil and heated until it smoked. Then let it cool down. repeated 3 or 4 times. This builds up the non-stick costingThen I washed it and used it straight away to cook bacon for about 100 bacon rolls and a dozen or so burgers. It didn't stick once. It was also dropped into water while very hot and scrubbed with a metal scourer twice during the cooking session. When I finished I heated it up to make sure it was dry, Then the next time I used it I just wiped it with oil and cooked on it. It's still non-stick and looks like nowUpdate Nov 2020I've used this at least once a week since I bought this (July 2019) and it still looks and performs like new. All I do after use is scrub it and oil it.
