Murder, She Wrote: Season 6

Murder, She Almost Wrote. This is the season where Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury) was a guest star on her own series. Episodes 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 18, 19, 21, and 22 were mysteries involving other characters. Jessica only opened the show with a strange greeting, as though you had just intruded into her home and she caught you. “Oh, hello!” Let me tell you about the time so & so did…….. They claim they had to do this to give Angela Lansbury a “rest.” But, be that as it may, the problem remains, it was her show, people tune in to watch her, not someone else act as a substitute. And, as most of the substitutes were men, how can you call those shows Murder, “She” Wrote?Disappointing.

This series is addictive. My eight year old daughter, like myself as a kid can’t get enough of this series. We are a television free family and watch these on dvd because there are no graphic sex /graphic violence issues to worry about. She is the Pwery Mason of the eighties.

I bought this particular set of DVDs because I was looking for something that my partner had remembered for years and wanted to see again. All he remembered was that he had seen some show where a big macho detective got stuck with a sissy poodle and he was embarrassed to be seen with the dog. Then the detective found out that the dog was more than meets the eye and wasn't a sissy by any stretch of the imagination. I finally found it, after looking for years. My partner had no idea whatsoever that it was an episode in this (or any other) series. He thought it was a made-for-TV movie and I, frankly, didn't remember it at all. Finally, after a few years of googling on and off, my googling paid off and I found it. It was aired during Season 6 of Murder, She Wrote, and it's called "Jack and Bill." It's just as my partner remembered and he was thrilled - I got steamed Maine lobster dinner as a reward for finding it! Of course, we also watched all of the other episodes on this 5-disc set and love all of them. We've watched the series for years and will eventually end up purchasing the entire series but, as long as it's on re-runs we'll watch those.

Didn't care for the price for such an old series. I did like that I can stop and really look at what is going on with the mystery at the moment. Not too crazy about the episodes that just had Jessica start out narrating another persons mystery to be solved but some were okay.

I was never a fan of the show. I only bought it because my favorite actor, Jonathan Brandis starred in an episodeIf you like the “nosy, old lady solves crimes that the Police cannot” you will love this show.

It's fun to watch Mrs. Fletcher with the latest mystery. When you need to relax and enjoy some good entertainment this is perfect. Nothing gross or too shocking in these shows.

This sixth season comes as a huge disappointment: in case you did not know, 70 % of those episodes DO NOT include Jessica FLETCHER as the main character. She appears for less than a minute at the beginning of each episode, supposedly to "count" a new story or reminisce about "old acquaintances". How convenient... Maybe actress Angela Lansbury decided to embark on a 3-week journey to India for a well-deserved holiday at the time and the producers could not be bothered to put production on hold during that time... A real insult to fans of the show across the world...

Absolute rot. Seth Hazlitt is an insufferable old bore, and all the non-entity croniestaking part in the episodes let it down hugely. Nothing like enough from AngelaLansbury herself; the person who is at the heart and soul of this series.

Like everything else ive bought off musicmagpie it was reasonably priced and arrived quickly and well packed. They are my go to choice for anything like this

We bought this particular DVD as it contains many of the episodes of Murder, She Wrote that we love. Highly recommended for fans of Jessica Fletcher.

I liked the episodes. Some of them only have Angela Lansbury at the beginning of the episodes, but the story lines were good.
