HealthWorks Raw Organic Maca Powder 16oz/1lb

I have been using Maca for over a year and it definitely does work. I had purchased Maca as capsules and considered using the powders form to save some money so I tried this product. Yes, it works but my problem with it is two-fold. First, it doesn't mix well, at least not with cold water. It remains as clumps and sometimes those clumps land on the back on my tongue and then break up leaving a pile of dust on my tongue with a horrible, at least for my tastes, smell. That is my second problem, the smell of Maca is almost nauseating, and certainly not a pleasant. So bottom line, it works, it is less expensive than capsules, but unless you have a way to mix it well, like a blender instead of a spoon, and can tolerate the smell, then perhaps capsules are best. What I don't get is how a portion is a tablespoon, while for capsules a portion is a small capsule, 500mg, which is a fraction of the quantity, and I get essentially the same results. No the capsules I have used are not concentrated extracts, just Maca Root - the brand I have uses is  Nature's Herbs Maca Root, 500 mg, 100 Capsules

Listen, lets be frank. It tastes yucky, yes, but appears to work. I am very bad at being consistent in taking something that I don't really like, but maca powder seems to balance the system, boost energy, and certainly keeps you "regular". As to the claims of heightened sexual appetite... not so sure. Perhaps one has to take it a while first. HINT: The easiest way for me to take something that reminds me of dirty chalk in my mouth is to mix it with a very hot sweetened vanilla based tea like pumpkin spice, vanilla bean, or even almond. Even a regular basic tea sweetened with a tiny splash of vanilla extract is better.

Just received my Maca poweder in the mail today and just finished a tall green smoothie with Maca added. The quality is excellent, seems very fresh, and tastes great (if you arn't familiar with Maca flavor it has a malty, slightly nutty flavor.)The quality of this surpasses Maca powder I've purchased at Whole Foods for half the quantity, and for only half the price! This one is also raw and organic, which makes it even more amazing! You really can't beat this deal!If you're thinking of trying this you won't be let down with the product or the seller. If I could rate it 6 stars I would.. Why? My order even came with a sample of chocolate covered coconut chunks! Nom nom nom :D

When I received this product, I was using about 1/2 tsp, once a day, for about 5 days. I put it in about 4 oz of warm water to dissolve it, drank it down, then chased it with about 5 oz more water. This product caused severe abdominal cramping and diarrhea after about 3 days. I stopped taking it for a few days, then started back with less, approx. 1/4 tsp., using same method - still cramping and diarrhea. I have not taken this again since and am not sure what I'm going to do with the rest of the product. Also, I think it tastes awful but would happily plug my nose to drink it down if it had worked. I purchased it to help with hormone balance, particularly night sweats and joint stiffness/muscle soreness, as I have read it helps with peri- and menopause symptoms. Does it actually work for that? I cannot say since I couldn't take it long enough to find out.

I wish I had gotten a smaller amount of this product-or not at all. The taste is so pungent it overpowers anything I am using with it, and it does not dissolve quickly. Yuck.

I ordered this powder as suggested by a friend. I was looking for some extra enegry toward the end of the day. I choose this brand because it was inexpensive and organic. My powder arrived very quickly and packaged well. Excited to try it, I made it with just water, one tablespoon to a cup of water. I took one sip and it came back out. I managed to finish the glass but with great effort. The next day I thought I had a figured out a way to get it down peacefully. I incorporated it into my morning decaf coffee (I know, I like the taste of coffee). I again put one tablespoon in about 2 cups of coffee, blended it well, and tried to drink it. It had to be the worst drink I have ever had. There is something about the scent and the taste I cannot get over. It comes right back out. It does have a nutty taste as others have stated but the scent is something all on it's own. If you have a super sensitive nose like I do, then maybe this isn't for you. I choose this product for the energy effects. I'm not giving up. I'm going to try the capsules instead. Great company thus far but the powder is brutal to down. Too bad...

The flavor is nothing like I thought it was going to be, it is quite strong. I have put it in a green smoothie and it over powered everything else... I just need to find something it is good in.

Arrived much earlier than promised and I was waiting for friends to pick me up for dinner, so I thought I'd make a quick smoothie. I made it, drank it in 3 minutes and now I can't wait for tomorrow morning to make another one. Adding maca powder made it delicious, the malty/honey-like flavor is simply delicious. I cannot wait to order my next batch.
