I have not used these as heat packs, but they're excellent for cold packs. They are gel, so they conform to whatever you're holding it against. I also like the variety of sizes in this pack. There's a size for everything. I also like that they came in one large bag. I keep all of the gel packs inside the large bag, and keep it in my freezer. Everything is contained and easy to find whenever I need it.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: The directions for this item as a hot bath are very clear: microwave only in a bowl of water not directly in the microwave, and only for ten seconds at a time. If you fail to follow these directions, the gel pack may get very hot, and may burst in your microwave. (We did a test of running it for thirty Seconds on high power without water, and the pouch expanded to nearly bursting, and the gel was too hot to handle. One side of the pack is covered in a cloth-like material and the other bare plastic. Freez easily, they came in many sizes to fit any need. I already used them on my son's knee and head, they worked just fine and as expected.

Nice little set of ice packs. They freeze well and are very compact to put into small little pockets in my freezer. They are easily bendable and mold nicely onto different joints of my body. Feels nice on my ankle at the end of the day.
