Limited pressing housed in Japanese mini LP sleeve packaging with obi strip. Digitally remastered edition of this classic '60s Soul release. For years, Motown was always referred to as the most influential Soul label of the '60s. However, one cursory glance at Atlantic's vast catalog of '60s Soul releases proves that Atlantic may have had the edge in regards to it's roster of influential talent. This remaster is just one in a series of Japanese Atlantic Soul and R&B reissues that comes housed in a min LP sleeve, which replicates the excitement of opening the album back when it first came out!

Sublime..
There are many ‘live’ albums that are anything but. There are some live albums that are lifeless and some live albums that are more to do with fulfilling contracts or acting as a stop gap before another studio job arrives.Well ‘Aretha Live at the Fillmore West’ you can be assured is a genuine artistic triumph. It is a proper ‘live’ album. Aretha with a first rate band with King Cutis and Ray Charles no less is a recipe for an inspiring listen you’d suppose, and you would be right. We start off with a pile driving ‘Respect’ and from there it just gets better and better. I love the blues of ‘Doctor Feelgood’, the gospel –pop of ‘Bridge over Troubled Water’ and Ray Charles’s appearance on ‘Spirit in the Dark’ just caps it all. Aretha sings with such passion throughout that she totally dominates what is without doubt as good a band as you will ever find anywhere. It’s a shame that additional tracks could not have been added but otherwise this a lovely set. Interesting sleeve notes and excellent mastering make this a disc to treasure. Is there a better live Soul album out there then this album? If so, let me know!Highly recommended!
