Works flawlessly + comfortable layout
Excellent Controller! Layout is brilliant and and improvement from my well beloved and so familiar Snes controller. Work straight out of the box, connected to my Mac via bluetooth, and happily playing on Steam games via porting kit and native Mac and arcade games.

Literally a game changer
I’m an older gamer that now just plays on a large iPad, and I bought a cheap(ish) controller to try out because the screen controls are pants. It was well worth it and I progressed well, but the sheer number of taps was causing RSI type discomfort. Enter the 8Bitdo Pro 2 - purchased pretty much entirely to get macros! It has made a huge difference for me because of the macros, but also for other reasons. What I like: * Marcos/programing * Comfort/design/build quality * Joystick operation is fab * Easy to use - the controls work better for iOS than my 1st controller * Software works well and is easy enough to use (with a caveat, see below) * Having 3 profiles is great if you play a few different games * Magnetic based joysticks are much more progressive (Hall effect) * All cardboard packaging so totally recyclable Things that could be better: * iOS app is pretty much what you get on the Mac/PC version but you need the controller to NOT be connected via Bluetooth - so it only works when it’s on charge for example. Find when you know, but confusing at first when it’s connected and the software just sits there with no warning * The writing on the black edition is all in black… so not easy to see (yes I know it’s a design thing lol) * The price - worth it for me, YMMV Being able to programme the controller rather than letting the OS manage this is useful and I can’t overstate how well this item is made. The macros have made a huge difference for me, for which my RSI says thanks 8BitDo!

This is probably isn't news to anyone. Quality product at a sensible price (i didn't say cheap)
Very good product, feels as good, if not better that the other manufacturers product they may or may not have copied. You can't really patent an obvious ergonomic design, so I will let them off for that. Feels Built to last, battery lasts for ever, no latency that I can notice (hardcore FPS gamers need not comment) I had my first for a few years, still feels brand new. All in all I found this one of my better purchases, so much so.. I just bought another!

Very good, but I regret not spending more on Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, for the HD Rumble 2.
I bought this as another controller for the Switch 2, already having the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller (and the included Joy-Cons) as a second/third controller for 3 player games or to not use the Joy-Cons. It's good, but I regret not spending more and buying a second Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, mainly for the HD Rumble 2. The positives: Connectivity was perfect. Needed a quick update of firmware to work with Switch 2 (plugged it into a MacBook, took less than a minute, really easy). After that all seamless, connects just like the Nintendo Controllers. Everything else about it is good - it just works, it's comfortable, it's well made, no issues at all. I like it...until I swap back to the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. The official Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is slightly better in all areas. Little bit more comfortable (maybe due to placement of thumb stick), feels better made, bit better experience. None of that would be worth the difference in price though, apart from the HD Rumble 2. That's just so different, and night and day compared to the standard/normal rumble in the 8bitdo. That's a feature Nintendo have worked on a lot for Switch 2, and the controller matches what's happening in the game, with subtle movements that don't distract and help. The 8bitdo feels last generation. There's nothing wrong with it, but once you've played with the new controller, the Rumble feels annoying and wrong. It's for that reason, I wish I'd spent more and got another Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. However, nothing otherwise wrong with this (and no other 3rd party controller would be better), so a good option.

Great quality
I have bought 8bitdo controllers before and there so good and well built bought this version that was better than my own as a present for someone's birthday to use on his Nintendo switch works very well much better than the switch's very poor gen 1 joycons that cost way more. Only issue I had was pairing it said plug it into switch with cable and it was paired but upon unplugging cable wasn't not sure what the problem was but it did actually pair anyway bit strange but works flawlessly with my switch and nephews👌

Works perfectly with steam
I connected the device to the USB a port on my laptop using the cable supplied. And following the basic but simple instructions the device connected flawlessly to my Windows 11 MSI laptop. I was able to play no man's sky almost immediately with practically no configuration required. The device felt comfortable in my hands. Very familiar to a PS4 controller for me. Just need to get used to the controls once again as it has been a while and I've been struggling with the keyboard on my laptop.

Defective Right Trigger. Replacement requested.
3 1/2 stars. Potential 4 stars if the triggers worked correctly. Brand new, straight of the box, testing the triggers… and the RT is only registering 82% on a full pull of the trigger. LT is working as intended with every pull. It registers 100% if you press it down in a very specific way, on the tip of the trigger, straight on… and way harder than you should ever really have to. You can feel the trigger mechanism pushing further than normal into the rubber contact inside just to get it to register all the way. There was a noticeable disparity in feel and operation of the RT when compared to the LT under normal use. I knew there was an issue with it as soon as I had it in my hands. It just felt that bit different to press than the LT trigger. I could effectively dial it out somewhat with a large 20% cut to the max limit of the trigger action in the 8bitdo ultimate software, but it’s only going to get worse over time I think. After a few hours of research online, it’s apparently a known problem and common hardware fault on nearly all 8bitdo’s analogue triggers in their product line. The subpar trigger mechanism design cuts into the rubber contact over time, and sometimes they are misaligned or not correctly shaped straight from the factory. I did own an SN30 Pro Plus, and that did have some issues, but this wasn’t one I’d come across before. Saying that, I only really ever used it on a Switch when I had it, so never really used the full 100% of the triggers to notice if it ever had the same issue. The triggers seem the same design so it’s a likely possibility. The Hall Effect sticks appear to be a decent upgrade on paper. They perform well so far, feel accurate enough and are very similar to traditional ALPS sticks to use. Hopefully they prove better at limiting potential stick drift as time goes on. The rest of the pad feels quite good, about the usual for membranes. Good face buttons, good d-pad… though in my experience they all tend to get a little mushy after a while as the rubber membranes begin to wear out. LB & RB are also serviceable, just fine, but not the most tactile feeling. Start and select buttons still feel pretty bad though, and I’d much prefer something less archaic and mushy to press. I get that it’s retro, but I’d much prefer a mechanical, or even membrane, hard buttons that feel more positive to press. The customisable back buttons are somewhat useful and decent enough feeling, but are sometimes easy to press accidentally. The macro functions and profile/turbo modes are also useful and the ultimate software is good too, if a little basic. The hardware mode switch on the back of the pad is a welcome addition to me, coming from an SN30 Pro Plus. The triggers are still probably the weakest thing on the Pro 2 though. They need upgrading next on any potential Pro 3, as well as any and all future products they make. The Pro 2 triggers are very similar to a PS4 pad trigger in feel and operation, but with even more questionable build quality and reliability. An overhauled future design to the trigger that’s more robust feeling and reliable, maybe with mechanical stops for short action presses, would be very welcome indeed. I do like the pad a lot though, it’s very good for the sub £40 price, and I’m willing to give it another shot, so I have requested a replacement for the wonky, out of the box, RT performance. Hopefully it isn’t a bad batch and the next one I receive is much better, but be warned… heavy use of triggers, such as in racing games or fps titles, will potentially cause similar issues in the future as these triggers are as cheap as they come. The rubber contacts in them seem to be a very common failure point.

Works with everything!
These controllers are extremelly versitle and work with everything, even my linux batocera setup. Firmware upgrades are available from the manufacturers website, with software, plug in and away it goes, updating and keeping things running great. With the same software, you can also program in layouts which are switchable between modes. The sticks feel great and smooth, the buttons are perfect. I bought two in grey for the Switch and PC and another two in black for my batocera setup. All over perfect, I've dropped them a few times (the grey ones) and never had a problem, they just work!
