Defiantly a cut above.
They are not cheap, but they are brilliant very sharpe they do an excellent job, used since I got then no sign of loosing their edge, they still look new, not as heavy as the pair they replaced, I bought the hand clippers also later on and they are jus as good but again not cheap. I expect these to give long long service. Very happy I spent the extra they are well worth it.

Well made quality shears
I work as a professional gardener and use these several times a week. They are a little heavy, but they work perfectly. And quickly get round a lawn. They feel very sturdy and are well worth the high price if you have a large lawn or if you are a Gardener.

Great but not perfect.
Good but caveats. Writing this after 3 months use. I do quite a lot of edges/edging work (largest garden has easily 1 hour of edging). On average they get used for at least 2 hours a week. So far I've yet to see a significant dulling of the blades so they're definitely made from quality steel. Cheaper blades <£30 are generally made with inferior cheaper steel which once blunted and sharpened will never hold the edge due to the steel being too soft. (So 3 stars is for the for the quality blades). Caveats, the tensioner definitely needs a pair of vise grips to adjust as it's extremely tight. Not a major issue, but out of the box the shears didn't cut at all, until I turned the adjuster a few clicks tighter with vise grips. I've not needed to adjust them since then. The handles (imo based on hours used) are heavy and too short. As mentioned I do at least one hour solid edging with these in one garden. The shears soon become heavy and tiresome to use, using a cheap pair of fiskars alloy handles shears is a dream compared to these. The handles are okay it doing dead flush edges, holding them at almost 90⁰, however not all edges are like that and some require holding the shears at an angle closer to 45⁰. The short, heavy, handles make that aspect of edging a misery. I assume I'm in a minority here though. Lastly you really need a deep edge to get the full benefit from these shears. The shears design is chunky so on edges that are shallow, less than 2 inches, you won't be able to fully open the shears to cut with, and you end up only using the first few inches of the blades. Overall, they are what they are. If you want a decent set of heavy, heavy duty shears, get these. They'll probably last a lifetime. If you do lots of edge work I'd suggest looking for a slightly smaller set with good quality steel blades.

Top quality
I have had these for a couple of years now and used them regularly and still not had to sharpen the blade yet. Yes they are heavier than other makes but I think the just shows the build quality,I highly recommend these edging shears

At the cutting edge
I saw these edging shears recommneded on a specialist website. They are more expensive than most other makes, but the quality is fantastic and they are so easy and comfortable to use. They claim to be self-sharpening, but only time will tell. This is a superb product and good value. The tool is sturdy and the right weight: heavy enough in use keep hang vertically and light enough not to cause arm ache. I would certainly recommend this.

Not cutting now. Self sharpening????
The last year (4 before) not cutting hardly at all even with a clean blade. Not happy!

Excellent well made Shears
I bought these after years of buying edging shears in the £20 to £30 price range which stay sharp for about 6 months and after that remain persistently blunt, despite my sharpening attempts. These shears are working well so far and remain sharp. The only downside is that they are on the heavy side.

The best edging shears - well worth the additional cost!
I've had other edging shears but nothing as sharp or sturdy as these. They've got a real spring to them and although on the heavier side, are still comfortable for an older lady to use and get really sharp edges to the lawn in next to no time. With these and an excellent half moon edging iron, you'll be good to go.
