Color Laserjet Pro 3201dw Wireless Color Laser Printer, Office Printer, Duplex, Best for Office (499Q9F)

Don’t do it unless you want to go the poor house. This is the most frustrating printer I have ever owned. I can’t get toner from Amazon…because the ones sold on AMAZON don’t work in this printer even when it indicates it has the proper chip. My only choice is to go to Office Depot and spend $499. on a 4 color toner box. It’s also very difficult to trouble shoot, The menu screen is Disfunctional for most processes

• DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT I purchased printer in April 2025. • October 23, 2025 printer stopped working. Spent hours with tech support troubleshooting and it was determined to be a software issue. She was handing me off to software support and I was to stay on the chat. She disconnected me. • Contacted tech support and referenced my case. Instead of reviewing case, he asked me all the same questions the previous tech did. He was very rude. He was unable to connect me to software support. • The next day I called and was able to talk with someone who reviewed my case and then issued a replacement. I thought it would be a new machine. • November 1, 2025, I installed the Refurbished machine I received as a replacement for the brand new one I had just purchased in April which had very low prints made. I moved forward with installing the replacement printer. • November 16, 2025, I called HP because the replacement machine had an error code. I rebooted but the code remained. I told tech support my frustration and wanted to speak to someone that could refund my money. I was given the run around and told no one could help me. I left it with someone needed to call me. • I continued to be bounced around trying to find someone who can help me. I am told I can’t receive a refund. I am told I can’t have a new machine as a replacement. My only choices are to receive another refurbished machine or troubleshoot what is wrong with the current refurbished machine. • The customer service experience has been horrible. It is now November 24, 2025 and I still do not have a resolution to my case. There is no since of urgency with this company. I have a broken refurbished machine that does not work and no one seems to care.

I’ve been using the HP Color LaserJet Pro 3201dw in my automotive shop, and overall it’s been a very reliable workhorse. Right out of the box, setup was straightforward—HP did a good job making the process simple, and I had it up and running in no time without any headaches. The print speed is one of the standout features. This thing moves quickly, pushing out pages fast enough to keep up with a busy shop environment, which is exactly what I needed. It’s rated around 25–26 pages per minute, and in real use it definitely feels that quick. Toner life has also been impressive. I don’t feel like I’m constantly swapping cartridges, which is a big deal when you’re printing invoices, work orders, and customer paperwork all day. It keeps operating costs reasonable over time. Physically, the printer is a good size. It’s not overly bulky or heavy, so it’s easy enough to move around or place where you need it without dedicating a huge amount of space. For a laser printer, that’s a nice bonus. Day-to-day use is simple and straightforward. The controls are easy to understand, and everything just works without a lot of fuss. Wireless printing is reliable, and it connects quickly when sending jobs from different devices. Paper capacity is adequate for my needs. It handles a steady flow of printing in a business setting without constantly needing refills, which keeps things running smoothly during busy hours. Print quality is what you’d expect from a laser printer—clean, sharp text and solid color output for forms and basic graphics. It’s not meant for photo printing, but for business use it does the job well. Overall, this is a dependable, no-nonsense printer. Fast, efficient, and easy to live with—exactly what you want in a shop environment where downtime and complications just aren’t acceptable.

Works great. At first the wireless wouldn’t but it turned out to be my wireless connection. Not happy that the scanner is through the phone ap. Didn’t expect that. Description on site could have been better.

The first month or so of owning this printer, I would’ve given it 5 stars. The starter cartridges it came with put out AMAZING prints. Then one day, they run out and I’ve only ever replaced them with the same HP brand 218a cartridges. The first time i bought the XL version of each cartridge totaling somewhere around $500). After replacing, prints came out terrible and I mean AWFUL! Colors were way off half the page was faded to blank , unlegible even. I figured, hmm, I must’ve gotten a bad cartridge (or cartridges) even though they were unopened/sealed from HP. Nonetheless, I threw them all out, then bought a new set of the regular 218a HP brand cartridges (totaling $300-400). Installed them in the printer, and wouldn’t u know the prints still came just as bad as they were before. So in total I’ve spent well over $1,000 on this printer to not even use it anymore. I’ve tried trouble shooting every possibility every trick in the book, to no avail. I think it’s shady of HP that CLEARLY the starter cartridges the printer came with are of far better quality than those they provide as replacements, leading you to believe you have a great printer until u replace the ink. By that point, it’s too late to return, I’ve wasted over $1,000 over this garbage printer & toners, and still am unable to print one single page of a properly colored print out.. I was a fan of HP printers all my life but this purchase/experience may have just added them to my blacklist of “will never buy again” if it’s got the “HP” logo on it. They’re theirs and clearly have some deviant practices going on, from my experience. So in conclusion, my message would be to avoid this printer at all costs. Don’t trust Amazon’s “preferred choice” logo that I fell for and trusted. I wish someone would have informed me these issues before I bought this thing - i would’ve saved over a grand that’s been stolen from me, along with all the headaches.

Needed a new printer as my previous color laserjet was a decade old with wore out paper feed roller and poor print quality from latest toner set. Very fast printing, good quality, compact size. But the worst setup process. The only cable included was the power cord, no USB cable, bad omen. HP Smart refused to see the printer when connected by USB. Even though the computer knew it was connected as Norton Driver Update saw it and updated driver. Connected the printer by ethernet and HP Smart could now see the printer and allow me to get through setup. Now suddenly the printer is seen as connected by USB and network with printer listed twice and two print queues. No problems with printing wirelessly from Android or Apple devices.

This printer has been a fantastic addition to my home office. It’s efficient, reliable, and delivers top-notch print quality. I’m giving this printer 3 stars because it arrived looking like it had been previously opened or used, even though I purchased it as new. The most frustrating issue was that the power cord was missing, there were no instructions included, and there was already paper inside the machine when I unpacked it. Fortunately, I happened to have a compatible power cord, but most buyers would not have been able to use it right away. Another thing to be aware of is that this printer is extremely heavy—much heavier than expected—so moving or setting it up can be challenging. I understand that returns sometimes get resold rather than discarded or labeled as renewed, but it would be better if items like this were clearly identified. I decided to keep it since the ink cartridges were still full and it works, but the condition and missing parts were disappointing for something sold as new. Update: Well it kept throwing out critical error codes, I gave up and will have to return it. I will not buy an HP printer again.

Nice looks and small size were a plus for our office. Awful, tiny screen hard to see and use. Have had problems since we purchased on both Mac and PC's. Would only print a page or two at a time. Ink is very expensive at around $450 for high capacity colour. Updating this review as this printer was so bad, that we had to throw it out. It would turn on sporadically, then not turn on when you need it, print streaky, used way to much ink. We would have to spend around through $450 month on ink and we don't do a tonne of printing. There are actually other great printers in this price range with affordable manufacturer refills. I'm actually amazed that a product like this was made by a company who has been doing this for so long.
