I can puzzle with toddlers!
For what it is, I’m impressed! Outside of actual wizardry, I don’t think there’s an actual way to preserve a puzzle midway through, but this is pretty close! I love doing puzzles and am a pretty avid puzzler, its so relaxing for me but I’ve had to put a pause on them for the last few years as I have babies/toddlers who find them too tantalizing. I finally found a solution! I was in the market for one and this one did the trick. You do have to pay attention when rolling/unrolling but dang. This is pretty nifty. Yay!

Not bad for portability
If you're the kind of person who enjoys doing puzzles but also is looking for a good way to transport it for a weekend or day or two away, this could be a good solution for you. The roll itself has great features like detachable velcro straps which allow the roll to lay flat when unrolled and measurements for the standard sizes for 500, 1000, and 1500 piece puzzles. It has a rubber underside which also allows it to grip the surface you open it on so that it doesn't slide while you're trying to work on it. The included styrofoam core can be reused to help roll it consistently and help the roll to keep its shape when it's rolled. There are two minor things that keep this from being a 5 score. The first is that it would be helpful if there was a notation on the backside that indicated which end is the "top" so that you are guaranteed to open it right side up. The second thing is that when you do open it, the pieces do not lay completely flat so you may have to do some minor adjusting when you open the mat each time. I have noted the before and after rolling in the user pictures so that you can see what happens when it's unrolled. However, those are *minor* "flaws" and I would otherwise recommend this particular roll if you're in the market for one.

A puzzle mat that does the job
I do a lot of puzzles but have never had a mat and only recently got a puzzle board, but thought I'd see how this works. I'll primarily stick to the board, but this is a good little option. It comes with a nice bag to store everything, a foam roller for shape, and 3 Velcro ties. The top is a smooth surface, not felt so no fuzzies but also a little more ability for pieces to move (good and bad as too sticky can make small adjustments more of a hassle, but bad that they can move on you or fall off still without a ton of help). The back is a nice rubber that offers good hold but can be slid, it was a good combo.I've always used tables with an extra posterboard top when more space is needed, but based on this and some others where people tout just setting it on the ground, I unfurled it just on the carper by itself. No wrinkles or anything like that so the material was good. I wouldn't recommend that setup though as working on the puzzle was both 1) uncomfortable and 2) just didn't have quite enough sturdiness for clicking the pieces together. It's doable, but just not the best. Way too late I got a folding table and just slid the mat on top without setting up the legs and it was much better, so I still recommend some sort of backing (definitely not out on the ground outside at like a park as I've seen one person suggest).Having been up way too late, I didn't try to roll tight on the completed puzzle, but even a moderate tight/semi-loose roll was really easy to transport the puzzle, which I had doubted would work. Unrolling there was a bit of movement/undone pieces but not a ton which was a nice surprise. Before I had the designated table/board, this would have been a great solution for a lot of my puzzles that had to be put away to make space and then restarted. If you want something that takes up less space or cost is an issue, this is a great option. I almost might even consider trying this over the designated board, but if I just want to be in a different spot this will be the solution. For everything else I'll personally stick with the board that isn't quite as good for transport but better for working on and edged to prevent piece loss. The mat may be a step down, but still has a lot of good uses and positives, and could be the correct solution in a lot of situations.

The Missing Piece for Puzzle Night
This puzzle mat works well in helping make building puzzles more manageable. It is not the perfect solution, but I found it to be a very good compromise between space saving and functionality. The mat feels like a good quality mat. Heavy to stay in place and keep its shape, but not too heavy that it makes it difficult to use or carry.Like some have mentioned before, the outline and markings of the puzzle size/pieces on it, are a little distracting and don’t really seem to serve a true purpose. I think you could easily slide pieces around on the mat if you better needed to center them if you misjudged where to start the frame of your puzzle. The mat fit perfectly on my coffee table, which is where I usually build puzzles, so that was a huge plus. What keeps the mat from being perfect is that, as you likely can imagine, while it helps save on storage space, pieces will still move around when rolled up and, of course, you are bending the pieces of the puzzle when rolled up.So pieces will not always be exactly where there were when you rolled it and it may take a little pressing down and time for pieces to regain their flat shape. It is still a good option overall, especially if you don’t have a lot of spare room, or it’s going to be a while in between working on a puzzle and you really need to tuck it away somewhere. If you build puzzles often, this is something you will likely want to have as an option.

Plastic parts
Received the item, seams like it would work still in test phase. So far the concern is the buckle on the straps. They are thin plastic, one is broken before we used it.Would like to replace them without sending entire item back, as it’s already in use holding a puzzle.
