Mckenzie 20950 TuffBlock Game Shot Archery Target

These are cheap, and great for what they say they are. I have shot through mine on a few occasions (with a 30 lb. draw weight only), so definitely don't mount against a wall or anything solid. I personally have them on shelves with no back, which works as well as a stand for me. If you overshoot or have accuracy issues, these seem like they would be rather small, though for closer range practice that shouldn't be a serious problem. The main issue being, these can easily work inside during bad weather instead of going to a range, so long as you shoot well enough to not miss the target. They were FABULOUS for that purpose for me.They don't last terribly long either, but compared to other archery target block prices, I really didn't expect much more than what I got: a styrofoam block wrapped in plastic marked with targets, just like it looks like.

For everyone who has written a negative review about this, I suspect you are not using it correctly. Here is a detailed description so that if you are considering purchasing it you purchase it for the right reason. This is about 2'X2' on the front, and about 1' deep. It is composed of styrofoam encased in a sealed semi-heavy plastic cover (think plastic as thick as a good ziplock bag with a target on it). It is clearly labeled that it is not intended for bows with greater than 40lb draw. I would add that it is intended for kids arrows with rounded tips. Don't even try regular archery arrows with practice tips. And most definitely don't use broad heads with this.As far as what you can expect when you shoot. The rounded tip arrows will hit the target where you want, with practice and the use of good sighting. On the youth archery set I use it for I simply us colored headed pins taped above the arrow rest for varying elevations. When a round tip arrow goes into a styrofoam target don't expect it to look like Robin Hood placed the arrows. They will likely deflect some through the media so you will get some varying angles on the arrows that are in the target. Or, you might not. But, I'm just saying don't expect the arrows to react to the target like they would if it were a much more expensive target designed for high bow weight and practice or broadhead points. Rounded points will act less predictably at lower velocity in a styrofoam target.For life of use I would say you should be able to expect this to last for a few hundred shots. If I remember the price correctly it was something like $20. So from my experience of buying targets for both archery and guns, $20 for a few hundred shots is pretty reasonable.I got this along with a Bear Archery First Shot Youth Bow Set to expose my nieces and nephews archery when they get to be 5-7. This is fine for that. And I shoot the target in my office at about 15 feet if I am getting cabin fever.When I read the reviews before I bought this I was astounded at how many reviews reflected the purchase of something other than what was expected. I hope this review helps a little to give the right expectation.

I purchased this target for use with my 20lb recurve bow for myself and my children. The target is super light so it is very easy to get to my shooting area as well as tuck back in my garage when I'm done. There are however, a few things to keep in mind.This target is a large block of Styrofoam, the quality that makes it light and easy for low power bows to sink an arrow into it, also makes it fly all around when the arrow hits. You need to make sure you have it blocked off on the sides and back so you're not constantly having to adjust where you're shooting. This will be pretty obvious once you've put a few arrows into it.Again, since it is Styrofoam, as I pull my arrows out, little bits of the Styrofoam come out with them. The case is just a piece of plastic, so nothing fancy there. I'm sure it wont be too long before I'm needing to replace my target. With how much my family and I enjoy shooting, target replacement costs looks like it'll quickly become the largest cost of this activity. There are many targets for higher power bows that look to be more durable with self healing cases for a similar price to this target. It would be nice if there was something of that style available in this price range.Overall a good target that I'm happy with.

I have put about 250 arrows into this target and it is holding up very well. I use a recurve bow with a 35# draw.From 30 yards, only a couple of arrows have poked through the back. At 20 yards, several arrows have gone through.The target is light and will tip over fairly easily if hit hard. That can be easily fixed with a little imagination.At the rate I am going, I think it'll last for about 1,000 shots - you can shoot at all 4 sides.This target would be best for kids/teens.

Works great with arrows shot from a 32lb recurve bow, light weight and easy to use on the floor or sitting on a supported raised space. At very short range of 10 feet arrows can completely penetrate the block, so move it back or move yourself back to 15-20 feet. Holds the arrows firmly with no damage and easy to pull by hand and retrieve them. This is a good target for the money.

It is exactly what you pay for. The TuffBlock is not the absolute best archery target out there, but for the price it does very well. I have shot over 300 arrows into it and it is still up, ready to take more. It is made of high density foam so every time you shoot an arrow and pull it out, a little bit comes off. I shoot it in my backyard so there are tiny pieces of foam out there, but don't let that discourage you from buying this. It really is a great target. I did however receive the target with a large slice in the plastic on the outside. I kept it because I'm just going to be shooting holes in it anyway, but it is unclear whether it was a shipping mistake or the product was shipped like that. I would absolutely purchase this product again.
