Two POE IP cameras on one cat 5 cable.
I had a wired front door camera (POE) and a wireless (WiFi) garage camera. The wireless camera would keep losing its WiFi connection which wasn't good for security and peace of mind. It wasn't feasible to run a second Cat5 cable from the main POE switch to the garage camera. I used this three port POE switch to add a second cable from the front door camera to the garage camera. It's powered by the POE from the main switch and provides POE power to the two cameras. It runs quite warm but it is outside in 100 degree Houston heat. It is protected from the sun. I purchased an outdoor enclosure for it, mostly to keep Houston bugs out. I did drill many small holes for ventilation. It's run over a month now with no issues and it's nice to have a reliable garage camera.
