ScreenBeam MyWirelessTV2 Wireless HD Transmitter & Receiver Extender – Wirelessly Connect HDMI-Enabled Media Device to HDTV or Projector Screen, Full HD 1080P, 150 Foot Range

Very few products rate an actual 5.0, but the second generation Actiontec Multi-Room Wireless HD Connection Kit (MWTV2KIT01) comes close. I was not impressed with my initial introduction to the kit. Both units were marred within the shrink-wrap packaging, and required polishing. I am a bit of a stickler for detail. The Actiontec was purchased to replace a disappointing Nyrius NY-GS10.Any review that doesn't list the associated test equipment is worthless. My equipment includes: The Cisco Explorer DVR(s) 8642HDC and 4742HDC (provided by COX Cable), two Emerson LC320EM3F television sets, a Sansui HD-LCD185W TV, and a Samsung LN32B53P7FXZA television. All tests were done using a Logitech Harmony 200 universal controller.My primary goal is to provide HD cable programming on an Emerson in a guest bedroom located approximately fifteen feet (line of sight) from a Cisco 4742HDC DVR. Following the provided quick start guide, the initial setup was painless. The `Receiver' was attached to the first of the two Emerson HDMI ports. The documentation doesn't spell out how the unit's antennas are orientated, but graphical images indicate they are on the right side of the receiver. After adjusting for the best possible signal, eight bars were indicated via the receiver's menu. Consistent response from the remote controller wasn't achieved until the IR Extender and Blaster were installed.HD video quality is excellent, but the image produced by a $15.00 RCA - UHF/VHF/FM Indoor Antenna (rabbit ears) is better. The rabbit ears produce an extremely sharp HD image. By comparison, the image produced by the MyWirelessTV2 is soft. To be fair the MyWirelessTV2's image is three times better than the image produced by the Nyrius NY-GS10, and cost three point five times as much as the Nyrius. You really do get what you pay for.After changing channels via the IR Extender and testing `Standard' vs. HD programming I turned the Emerson off and back on to test if the state of transmission would remain as it was before turning the TV off. The result was not good. The visual quality was intact, but the audio was nonexistent. I rebooted the `Receiver' by disconnecting and reconnecting its power cord. This restored both visual and audio connectivity. I proceeded to replicate the scenario and ended up with the same results. However, for whatever reason, instead of rebooting the `Receiver' I changed the TV's input to the second HDMI port (Chromecast) and back to the first. This procedure restored the visual and audio connection without rebooting the `Receiver'. Now the question was: Is the problem MyWirelessTV2 or the Emerson?Without changing the state, or location, of the `Transmitter' I disconnected the `Receiver' and transported it to another room, same distant with one wall between the two. The unit was connected to a Sansui TV on its only HDMI port. The MyWirelessTV2's signal strength went down by one bar, but both video and audio remained excellent. Turning the Sansui off and back on did not affect the state of transmission. Thirty feet and four walls from the transmitter is another Emerson. Connecting to this TV produced the same results as observed on the first Emerson, with the exception of the receiver's menu indicating five bars. Forty feet and three walls is the Samsung. The `Receiver' was connected to the first of its three HDMI ports. Results were consistent with the Sansui, with the exception of the receiver's menu indicating four bars. Conclusion: MyWirelessTV2 was not the problem . . .After testing . . . I am ready to purchase a second `Receiver', but according to Actiontec's web site a second receiver for the MyWirelessTV2 is still in beta and should be available for purchase this month. Amazon is touting that the first generation MyWirelessTV Receiver is frequently purchased by consumers who buy the MyWirelessTV2 Kit, but Actiontec FAQ plainly states the generation one and two are incompatible.Final thoughts: The MyWirelessTV2 is easy to setup and use and in the long run is cheaper than paying COX for another cable box. Just wish I could watch multiple stations concurrently. I would strongly recommend this product to a friend . . .Best regards,Nat RayUPDATE: 20 October 2014, 1636 CSTJust got off the phone with Jim of Actiontec Customer Care, (800) 797-7001, according to Jim he has no idea if the release of an additional receiver is on track for distribution. He knows as much as is given via Actiontec's web site. Jim revealed that the current firmware of the MyWirelessTV2 only allows functioning with one receiver, and that a firmware update is about to be released that will allow the transmitter to function with multiple receivers. He believes additional receivers will be available with the release of the firmware upgrade.

Works great! Easy Easy setup. Here are my comments:Implementation:- Comcast Xfinity X1 Cable with DVR connected to a 59" Samsung Plasma TV- Transmitter connected between Cable box and Main TV in living room on 1st floor- Receiver connected to Master Bedroom (MBR) TV on 2nd floor which is directly above Living room- As the bird flies distance = ~25 feet- 1 floor and no walls between- Cable box is UHF and IR combo. Cable box is hidden in a cabinet- Attached IR Transmitter to the top of the cable box and it works greatNotes:Sometimes when you first turn on the Main TV or the TV in the MBR, the screen will blank or be blue. But this is just when the TV first turns on, or you restart the transmitter. It seems to resolve its self pretty quickly. I would not consider this an issue.IR remote for the MBR TV is a little slow to respond. But again I would not say this is a problem. I have no trouble with Play/Pause, FF/RW DVR Functions back to the cable box.When the MBR TV is first turned on, the image is appears to be a bit fuzzy or compressed. However it quickly improves and looks great.ABSOLUTELY no trouble with pairing. Item does not use my home Wifi network which makes setup even easier.For the pictures I included with this review, I have the transmitter and receiver sitting out. Normally they are tucked away, in the cabinet (transmitter) and behind the TV (receiver) and are not visible.Main TV is Plasma and does not interfere with the signal. We have can lights in the ceiling between with incandescent lights on a dimmer. This also does not interfere with the signal.I would HIGHLY recommend this product to help keep the Cable costs in check.Only wish the price was cheaper.

This is the second generation kit. I have been messing with wireless TV for a long time and although it may seem attractive to buy a $70 kit instead of this $195 kit, this is by far the very best experience I've ever had with any of them. First of all it's HDMI and HD. But best of all is that it works. In my house I'm only about 35 feet from the second TV going through wooden walls and a floor to the basement. The packaging is very good, and it includes everything you need, even HDMI cables. Unlike some of the other reviews I find the units solid, I don't think they're thin junk as described elsewhere, they're in line with everything else made light weight these days. Even the dash on my expensive Toyota looks thin and cheap. The placement of the transmitter or receiver may affect a good uninterrupted signal. You may have to place one box on its side and the other one right side up, you have to experiment. I have not experienced any out of sync audio/video. I used the included IR repeater with a DirecTV Genie box and it works good with crisp performance. I tried to purchase a second stand-alone receiver for another TV on the same system but haven't been able to find one yet. This is a review after only a day of use and I will update the review in the future.Update: It will work as described above but it can be very cranky. Once you have a good connection you better leave the transmitter and receiver in the same position that gives you good performance. Move either box and you could be in a world of hurt with many frustrating moments. I had one TV in the basement working very good when I added a TV in a detached garage 65ft away. In order for the basement TV to get a good signal the transmitter box had to be placed on its side and the receiver also needed to be in one particular spot on the TV stand. But the garage TV needs the transmitter to be placed flat, not on its side. That makes the basement TV not work properly. I ended up having to set up the system for the basement TV first, then get a longer HDMI cable for the garage TV and do a lot of experimenting with that receiver's position. Very touchy. 1/2" makes a difference, also, the metal garage door can only be closed, when I leave it open my signal goes bad. I doubt very highly that the signal can travel 150 ft as advertised, Maybe in their lab but in the real world probably a maximum of 75 ft.I still give it 4 stars even though it probably deserves 3 1/2. I did get it to work and it still beats anything else on the market for the price. But you cannot expect it to work flawlessly without tinkering.I ended up buying a whole second kit even though I only needed a second receiver. The second transmitter will be a spare.After several weeks of using one transmitter and two receivers on TV's in opposite directions I have had no problems and no resets were needed. The initial setup tool some doing but now the boxes have been in one place without having to move them. I still think it's the best reasonable wireless solution out there.

This device does not transmit audio and is no longer supported by the manufacturer. First of all, it is NOT a multi-room device, only supposed to work from one transmitter to one receiver. I also do not understand why it is advertised as a 'multi-room transmitter and receiver.' My first devise worked with audio for about 2 hours, then stopped sending audio. I went through the troubleshooting sequence up to the point where they say to download a newly updated driver. The Actiontec website says the product is no longer being produced and that there is "limited support" for it. In fact, there is no support whatsoever. Apparently, there is a conflict with a Motorola converter supplied by Comcast and there is supposed to be a software fix for it. I do not have a Motorola converter, but do have Comcast and use a cable card in a TiVo recorder, so I thought I would see if they have a software fix that would apply. No support and no help from the Actiontec support crew. Their response to my question said that I needed to upgrade my HDMI cable, even though I had told them that I used an HDMI 2.0 cable and that the same cable worked fine when plugged directly into a TV. I think the answer I got was a canned response that they send out to anybody who had that type of issue and they didn't actually read my question.Even though I got no useful information from Actiontec, I used the Amazon return policy (thank you Amazon!) to get a replacement unit. Same story, only the new one didn't transmit sound at all, not even for a brief period. I again went through all of the suggested troubleshooting suggestions (what's that quote about the definition of madness?) up to the point where they said to download a new driver... still no support available. I give up, and will ask Amazon for a refund this time. I have an old IOGear HDMI transmitter that works reliably; guess I'll put it back in service. (Why did I try MyWirelessTV when I had a working IOGear unit, you ask? ... I was lured by the false claim of a 'Multi-room HDMI transmitter.')Note added after return of defective product: ActionTec slapped me with a $30 restocking fee! Talk about adding insult to injury! My advice is to Stay Away From this Product.

I've had this ActionTec Wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver for about a week or so, and I'm pretty impressed. I've bought several HDMI transmitters that didn't quite work out (I'll put up other reviews for those) and this one was the first that performed as-expected.I'm not putting it under a lot of strain; the transmitter and receiver are only about 8ft apart, and have a clear line-of-sight between them. I'm using this strictly for video streaming (not gaming), so I don't have any information on what kind of latency it has, but the video and audio are synced up properly, and the picture/sound quality is excellent.There have been no glitches in the video/audio yet, and I've been using it pretty consistently (with an Apple TV) since I hooked it up. The other devices I tried showed flaws immediately. It also doesn't appear to run hot at all, which is a plus if you need to have it in a media cabinet. I can't testify as to how well it would work at a greater distance, or through walls/obstructions. I also did not make use of the HDMI pass-through, or the IR blaster.One of the things I liked the most about this device was the user experience. I set up the transmitter and receiver, and they paired immediately without any intervention. Additionally, since I set it up, the receiver has continued to work without disconnecting, and is basically transparent (as it should be). You wouldn't know that your devices are connected wirelessly at all.The only features that I wish it had was a couple of hooks on the bottom side to mount it to a wall, and a model that had multiple HDMI inputs. As such, I plan to hook up a remote-controlled HDMI switch, and hopefully that will fill that void.Overall, I'm very happy to have found a product that works well. I'm hoping that it continues to work as well as it's working now.

These work to a degree, but require an equal amount of work from you to do so.The good:They arrive with all the cords you’ll need (HDMI, power, etc) to get them up and running. Set-up is a very quick and painless process. Plug in three things and you’re done! I have video and audio playing in about 10 minutes of receiving the package.The range is impressive. I placed the main transmitting in our main level family room. From there I can easily get TV signal in an upstairs guest bedroom on the other side of the house. More impressively, I can get audio and picture to a shed a level down and in our back yard. That’s probably 100 feet of distance traveled and multiple walls inside and out.Picture quality is great. No noticeable loss of quality.The bad:I’ve gotten the IR Blaster to work maybe once? It changed a channel, but it was a good 5 minutes after clicking it on the remote. Use of the guide and menu functions would be impossible with this. Since then I have not even gotten that far using the remote. It does nothing.The devices need to be powered off and back on regularly. Before and new use, I would recommend so this just to be safe. If you do not do this, you may get no signal, or only audio/only video.The device connection takes a few minutes after restarting it. This is only a minor inconvenience.Overall:If I was using this to replace a cable box in a room or add one to a guest room, I would probably just rent a cable box instead of buying this device. At $150, I can rent the box for around a year and a half that won’t depend on hogging channels on a box in another room and that people can actually change the channel. I’m using it to get cable for football games in a pub shed outside I cannot run cable to. For my use it may be the only option I have. Even with that said, I’m still on the fence of whether I’m going to keep it.

I purchased this to send a Single Satellite output to multiple TVs in a fifth Wheel. Based on the questions that were asked and answered, it was implied that they would work. That is not true! That was an earlier and no longer available version. It also looks like there is no plan on making that feature available. This is what Jeff from Actiontec said in response to my email."Thank you for your recent inquiry and interest in Actiontec Electronics.I must apologize for the copy provided via Amazon as it is incorrect. That is, it was true with our Gen 1 product and unfortunately did not carry over to the MyWireless TV2 and has not been updated. I again apologize for any confusion it may have caused.The TV2 is a “one to one” system only and cannot manage multiple TV’s with an additional receiver. Additionally, we no longer have single Gen 1 units available.In order to provide a wireless solution to multiple TV’s, you would need to purchase a separate (complete) TV2 system. Although rather costly, it can be done with an HDMI splitter.HDMI out of your Sat receiver into the splitterFrom the splitter into each MyWireless TV2 transmitterThen of course attach each receiver to the respective television.I hope this information has been helpful."

I bought these because I was trying to broadcast two different devices and read under a separate review I couldn't do such with my existing unit (TECH-DIGITAL) because the signals would conflict with each other. The good news is that they obviously use different signals because they both work at the same time together, however, this unit wasn't able to transmit as far as the TECH-DIGITAL, and had a failure rate about 10 times more than my TECH-DIGITAL. Specifically, it skips probably about once every few minutes for a brief second, which TECH-DIGITAL might skip about once every 5 minutes, but it also requires to be reset about once every 3 or 4 days, while my TECH-DIGITAL only needs to be reset about once every 2 months. It serves it's purpose since I can't broadcast two of the same brand, but I would have paid the extra $20 for the TECH-DIGITAL if I could have used both at the same time. Of note, the Actiontec is much smaller and cosmetically less intrusive than the TECH-DIGITAL, and I have a house that is very problematic with signals, so it's possible that without the signal issues the Actiontec would be a much better item for most households at half the size, and without the bulky antennas. This unit also DOES NOT REQUIRE A SPLITTER for the transmitter. I'm updating this review and dropping a star because the reset rate is now closer to every time I use it. I'm actually going to replace it with another brand today because it's become so annoying. I'm leaving two stars because if you are willing to reset it every day, it technically does work.

Great product! At first I thought it was a bit pricey but after doing the math of everything I needed to wire the house the price became very comparable. The major savings is in time and construction materials. To top it off you can easily move this unit to another tv or even take it out of the house for special events.Packaging is great, easy to setup and works great with the IR repeater! You have everything you need in the kit. I did replace the included hdmi cables with higher grade ones but that is totally optional.Highly recommended, and would buy again!

I used this to stream my zone 2 to my bedroom, when it was a fresh restart it would work but when I used it again later there would be no sound and I would have to restart, sometime numerous times. Too much time and trouble for my liking.
