No. I have used a variety of lightweight plastic vessels, including small Tupperware cups, plastic communion cups, and small portion cups from Gordon Food Service. You can also get plastic weighing dishes here on Amazon.

Having problems calibrating, followed instructions but still doesn't work?

Mine worked very well. I bought a set of calibration weights to check its accuracy and linearity. It performed very well, with indicated weight reading within +/- 2 in the least significant digit over the entire range. Diagnosing a problem so Ill-defined without being there is impossible. I suggest that you consult a friend who has a background in science or engineering — perhaps a high school science teacher or a pharmacist in your town.
