Wonderful book, received a second hand in perfect condition, my grandson started reading it and he probably finished it by now...a page turner, full of nice moments and good for any age, I would say. I will read it too.

Really cool
This is now one of my favourite series. The writing is neither overly simple or overly complex and the characters are developed enough so as not to make them unbearable, the descriptions are vivid adn teh idea, whilst not very unique are still very good. Wrongly this is being compared to Eragon, which is decidedly worse, whilst eragon is way too long and boring, rangers apprentice or quick and very enjoyable reads. With battles and great plot lines a plenty this is an awesome series of books that every boy should read, particulairly the younger generations who want to escape to a fantasy world that isn't too hard to get into.

funny, exiting and captivating.
Hi I'm Oscar and I'm twelve and I've started doing book reviews for all the books I read ...This book is aimed at 9 to 10 year olds and is a very exiting book, a real page turner that gets you into the book so that you seem to be there, standing next to the characters an seing whats going on. Not to mention funny, this book is a must read.

great book
The book was marked 10+ as im 22 i was a little worried that the book would be lets say fast with no content in it. i was wrong the book was a easy read yes but not in a bad way it was written so well it seemed the flow right into my mind. there was a lot going on in the book action conflict and for a kids book well its hard to call it a kids book at all really because it was such a good all rounder there was fun and parts that make you laugh but there was also a solid story. the book kept me happy and i really did enjoy it the charters were strong and likeable and the book for it size was jam packed. i really cant wait to buy the next book.

An endearing tale
An easy read and well written. The characters feel unique and the world both interesting and well thought out.Only criticism would be with the bullying scenes, they went on to the point I can only imagine the author has issued he needed to work through. That feels harsh as I very much enjoyed this and will instantly pick up the next.

Great young adult fantasy adventure book.
This is book 1 of 11 so far and so, much of this one is focusing on introducing you to the main characters. This is not a negative thing as there is still lots going on and is a great coming of age plot line. Although most of the book is in Will's (the main young hero) point of view there are a few chapters told from some the other characters view. This is a great way to show you Will in another light.I have the next 2 in the series which I will be reading next and hoping to enjoy as much as this one. My 2 boys aren't old enough for these yet but I will be recommending them to them soon as I think this is a great book for teenagers.
