Dreams Of Horror (Best Of)

Good introduction to a great band, haven't really listened to these before but I reckon I'll be looking for more albums by them in the future. They may be an old band but are capable of impressing people now with their atmosphere and theatrics. Quite a unique band in their own way, especially with the front mans' peircing falsetto scream.

It was a surprise Christmas present which was a very good surprise & is a really good album. All the best songs on there!

This albums consists of pieces from here and there in a chronological order of King Diamond's solo band career - sometimes not choosing the obvious hits but showing creativity and diversity - especially on disc 2 (but also disc 1). It's a good selection of tracks and I felt it enjoyable enough. But It's absolutely NOT a best of since it's missing too many obvious choises especially from latter albums. Not a good best-of-album as an introduction but a fine collector's piece for dedicated fans. As a best-of-cd from the later career I recommend *Nightmares In The Nineties* instead, not a single filler there.

If you are a huge King Diamond fan and own a decent stereo to play physical media on, you will enjoy the sound of these remastered songs. Done By King and Andy LaRoque themselves, these are truly the best sounding versions of this material. Yes, no new music here, but the SOUND... Treat your ears!

Ein sehr gelungener Überblick dieser Band, die eine interessante Mischung aus Judas Priest und Iron Maiden ist... ;-)

選曲は申し分ないし、アンディ＝ラロックとキング＝ダイアモンドによるリマスターがなされているため音質も素晴らしい（海外のレビュアーの方の意見だと一部はリミックスされているとのことで、その可能性もあると思われる)。ベースパートも綺麗に聞こえるし、ギターの鮮烈なフレーズも華麗に響いている。キング＝ダイアモンドは、良い意味で「やり手のビジネスマン」であるため、本ベスト盤は、ロードランナー時代のものとメタルブレイド時代のものの両者が含まれており、ビジネス的に難しい部分を頑張ってクリアーしてリリースされており、こういったことをするのはさすがだと思える。また、ブックレットには、このベスト盤のCDはライブでプレイする曲を集めたものだと書いてあり、これからライブに行く人の予習用、そしてライブを終わった後であの曲をもう一度聞いてみたいという人の復習用にも適したものになっており、そういった目配りもさすがだと思える。これは日本盤を出して、歌詞カードや解説を付け、通常のCDショップに並ぶようにするなど、より多くの人に聞いてもらった方が良いのではないかとも思う。大げさかもしれないが、うまくプロモーションを行えば、日本でのメタル人気の復権に寄与できるかもしれない。

This is a great collection of classic, timeless songs that any King Diamond fan will surely enjoy tremendously. The songs are split into 2 discs; a "Roadrunner Era" and "Metal Blade Era", which is a nice historical touch. The remastering sounds pretty good in general even though it is barely noticeable for some songs, mainly the later stuff that has a better recording quality in the first place but it's still nice to be able to listen to these songs back to back without having to tweak the volume. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this "Best Of" to those who already have the albums since I don't feel the remastering brings enough of a plus value to the songs to legitimize buying them again but the choice of songs remains great and the sound quality is top notch.As far as the physical item goes, I really love the cover art and the marketing choice to go with a "digipack" format. I would have preferred if the booklet didn't float around in the middle of the package since it always falls out if you carry it around a lot and are not careful but it isn't that big of a hassle as to prevent anyone to buy it and it still deserves 5 stars to me.
