This is a nicely machined cleaver that functions well. I have no problem using it for residential work or for mechanical connectors & splices. For a professional install (carrier or enterprise), I wouldn't want to use anything that wasn't a recognized brand. But, I pay a lot for that privilege!Of the cleavers that I know, I'd say this thing is very close to a Jonard Tools FC-600. I wouldn't at all be surprised if both this and the Jonard came from the same Chinese factory. So hard to tell whether a copy or the same OEM.I have no problem recommending this cleaver for less visible working environments (or customers with open minds about manufacturer supply chains). You get this thing for about 1/2 the cost of the typical name brand cleaver's replacement blade cost.That does remind me that this seller / distributor should either include a replacement blade or have an offering. That would be my only negative comment.This seller seems to curate a nice collection of bargain OEM type fiber optic tools and consumables. I'd recommend checking them out. For so many of these items, a name brand manufacturer just stamps their name on it and does a 500 - 900% mark-up.

I am a fiber cable technician. This cleaver is a similar model but an upgrade to my 8 year old cleaver. It is very easy to use and comes with adjustment tools that fit in the provided case with the cleaver. Pay attention to how the cleaver fits in the case so that you can push it all the way back in and close the case properly.This cleaver does not trap the cut off fiber but it does have a catch cup. The cutting wheel rides on a spring loaded slide. I have used other models of fiber cleavers and find no obvious faults or needed improvements with this product.

Received the item, first use i notice the mechanics to lock the fiber was loose. It seems from factory the screw was over tight and tripped the screw hole or they send me a refurbished product. I tried to reach out directly but was only able to reach out to Amazon for a product return, that was not an option for me. Cleaving 1 out of 5 time good, very frustrating and stressful. The only good thing is has a lil fiber collection bin. If they willing to replace the product i will reevaluate the customer service and the product.
