Nice split wiring design...works with Nest Doorbell (battery)
I purchased this transformer to power my Nest Doorbell battery (2023 version GWX3T).The builder elected to not include a front doorbell in my home. Cost, aesthetics, oversight?...beat's me... but a terrible decision. The house was finished and there was no clear path (without extensive drywall damage and blind drilling) to the basement mechanical room or the CB panel where a traditional transformer could normally be mounted. There was a duplex outlet close to the front door but it was mounted in a wood panel, not drywall. My original plan was to replace the 1-gang box with a 2-gang box and use an Edwards Signaling mounting plate and transformer to power my Nest Doorbell. I was a little concerned about embedding the transformer inside a box, but the specs indicated it was rated for that use. After more investigation and hand wringing about the wood panel and running the low voltage wiring behind the wood the 6 feet to the doorbell, I decided it was easier to surface mount my new low voltage wiring from the doorbell in a cord channel and use this plug in OhmKat transformer instead. As an added bonus, the OhmKat wiring barrel connector was in the ideal spot so if I ever had to replace the transformer the door bell wiring could stay in place.I installed the OhmKat wire in a Medium size ZhiYo black wire cover and have the barrel connector in a low voltage box inside the drywall by the front door.

Safe, simple to install, and works perfectly! Good vendor response.
This installation of this power supply couldn't have been easier. The hardest part was drilling through my wall because I didn't have a long enough drill bit and didn't want to buy one for one-time use. I ended up cutting a piece of coat hanger and flattening one end to make a crude spade bit and then used that to continue the hole I started with a standard drill bit. Aside from that, it was just a matter of plugging the power supply into the outlet behind my refrigerator and running the wire along the baseboard to my front door. I bought some little nail-in clips to keep the wire against the baseboard. I did email Ohmkat and asked how to wire in a door chime. I received a quick reply from the vendor that included an easy-to-understand diagram and also a comment notifying me that Ohmkat was about to release their own plug-and-play door chime compatible with the power supply. I decided to wait for that and I'm glad I did. I'll review that separately. The Nest Hello seems to be working just fine with this power supply. The power provided is obviously enough to power the doorbell, with the built-in camera, and the chime. Some people have deducted stars because this unit is more expensive than a standard transformer and most third party power supplies. To me, having a turnkey product that is designed to power the Nest Hello and a chime, and includes circuit protection, is worth the price. I recommend this product.

So simple
This made the install of the wired 2nd generation doorbell so easy. Simply attach the wires to the doorbell and plug in to an indoor outlet. There is no need to do anything with the included chime. Great product.

Great alternative for homes without existing doorbell wiring
Made installing a Nest Hello in a house without existing doorbell wiring simple. My OhmKat powered Nest Hello doorbell works perfectly. In my case there was a baseboard level wall plug 18 inches from the interior door jam molding. Purchased a 12 inch long 3/16 inch "installer" drill bit here on Amazon, made some careful measurements, and drilled a hole from the edge of the interior door jam molding through to the exterior position of the doorbell. After threading the OhmKat power lead through the hole and connecting the Nest Hello, I used small wire staples to run the OhmKat power cable along the edge of the door molding down to the baseboard molding, then along the baseboard to the wall plug outlet. Painted the OhmKat cable to match the wall and molding and the installation is almost invisible.Note to OhmKat: Please consider offering a version of your product in white. It would make the device blend in well for your customers with white walls, or make painting the cable a one coat process for others.

DO NOT buy if you have ADT
I gave it a 1 rating not because of the product. The product is good. When my Google Nest was first installed by ADT, I was told they could only wire it to the existing doorbell system. Due to certain issues with the existing doorbell system, I wanted it taken off that and wanted it put on another power source. Before I ordered this product, I called ADT to see what power source they recommended and was told "they don't recommend products". I received a recommendation about OHMKAT so I ordered it. After installation, the Google Nest doorbell still did not work. After numerous technicians, factory resets, a virtual appointment, not one ADT employee told me connecting OHMKAT to the Google Nest doorbell voids the warranty. I found out this morning when the technician came to install the new Google Nest. He called his supervisor, Mike B to verify. I told the technician the problems started before the installation of the OHMKAT but Mike B. said to the technician "We can't depend upon that version". In other words, I am lying. Save yourself the same frustration I have had, don't buy this if you have ADT.
