Q: Does the fabric give over time to accommodate any irregularities in foot shape?

As you can see in the picture, about 3/4 or an inch of leather connects the fabric of the shoe to the sole. The rest of the shoe is fabric and performs like fabric - flexibility. The Gore-tex fabric has a little bit of give/stretch, but not a lot. I have no foot deformity, no bunions. But I do usually have to buy a wide version of shoes. I have not needed a wide in any Salomon shoes I've owned. (They don't make a wide and the regular shoe is already wide enough.). I got this shoe mainly because of the Gore-tex waterproof quality. It is different from my other Salomons in that the others have a fabric 'window' right next to the sole at strategic places, instead of that leather rim all the way around. Those windows are perfectly positioned to provide flexibility on both sides of each foot, right where bunion sufferers would need it.

Q: I am a size 5 in boots what size would you recommend

I am a size 5 and I buy size 5.5 (Five and a half) because I wear thick walking socks in my Salamons. They are extremely comfortable right from the first time you wear them and keep my feet dry in the rain. I have bought them 3 times now - all great.

The trainers with GTX in the description are the Goretex (waterproof) ones. I have the non waterproof which are described as Salomon Women’s XA Pro 3D and also have the waterproof ones which are Salomon XA Pro 3D GTX. If you look closely , you’ll see a small “Goretex” material label at the outside of back if the shoe. Hope this helps.

Do you mean heel lifting in the shoe? Yes unless you tie firmly with you heel down/toe up If you mean as you walk, yes depending on surface they can be a bit slippy
