KittiLure - Cat Chase Fishing Rod Toy - Handmade with 100% All-Natural Wool - for Cats and Kittens

The quality of this toy surpasses that of other similar cat toys. The rod is a type of sturdy wood (ash?) that looks good and strong. The wool type fabric on the stringer and the fish is good quality and strong. Nonetheless, our 12-week-old kitten (female) and 2-year-old cat (male) don't seem to be very excited or interested in the toy. It takes some effort to swing it around, and we're concerned that the weight and heft of the toy will knock out our kitten. That is to say, it's a high quality, heavy duty cat toy that may not get much use unless you have larger adult cats who like to play rough.

This is a really great toy for my cats. I've tried lots of lure type toys for them over the years, but this one is different. It's a lot heavier than most; it has a lot of substance to it. That makes it easy to play with, but what I really like about it is that it is also soft, and offers my cats something to actually grab onto and hang onto. And I know it's not going to hurt their mouths, or teeth. Sometimes string or corded lures can cut pretty badly. I have a couple of handicapped rescue cats, and while they are quite normal, they also have some challenges. This toy is really great for them. My tripod, Kelsey, is lacking one back leg, and so he depends upon his front paws, or more precisely, his front claws, when he plays. The heavy, soft wool of this toy gives him something to hang on to, and as my photos show, he loves it. He digs his 3 sets of claws in and the battle is on! And I'd say from the look on his face, he's having a ball. I have 6 kitties, but he won't share when I get this out. He is also a very energetic cat, and when I am not entertaining him, he finds trouble to get into. After 10 minutes of playing with the KittiLure, he's worn out. If for no other reason than this, this toy is wonderful!!!My other handicapped cat Rosie, has only one eye. She does perfectly well, but sometimes she doesn't bulls eye things like she wants. The thicker cord and meaty fish really give her something to catch, and I could tell she didn't get as frustrated playing with the KittiLure as she does with other things. The other, older cats have been playing with it too, but especially for my two special kitties, this is a real winner. And as always, the guys at Twin Critters are great.

The product looks like it is well made and I was very excited to use it with the cat. However, the product shipped in a soft envelope and arrived broken in half. It probably broke during shipment since the wooden fishing rod is fairly delicate. This product really should only ship in a box to prevent damage during shipment.

The media could not be loaded.  If you have cats that are fans of rod toys like this one than this is a must have for you! I have three cats and they are obsessed with this toy. They really enjoy rod toys to begin with, but the natural wool seems to make them like this even more. They love digging their claws into the little fish and biting at them. It is a bit heavier than other toys of this nature,, but it still works really well to dangle in the air and also drag on the ground depending on your cat's preference. My one cat is so crazy about this toy that I have to hide it in a cat-safe cabinet when play time is over otherwise she won't stop dragging it around and growling at her siblings! As soon as I open the cabinet and get it out she starts chirping excitedly. My cats heartily recommend this toy., and I love it too! It's a great interactive way to play with my cats and I love that it's all natural and safe for them.

Having just recently rescued her I was in search of a toy that she could make her favorite and I found it! She is normally very shy but once she starts playing with the fishing rod she becomes playful and can't get enough! You can tell it is well made with high quality materials which is a big plus. Would highly recommend!
