Bought my first Salter steamer 4 years ago, since then it has been 100% reliable, used several times a week to steam vegetables and has never let me down. I just fancied a brand new one and will keep the old one as extra if needed. It’s very easy to clean. The baskets may look flimsy but in fact are very sturdy, dishwasher proof, doesn’t take up much room in the kitchen. A very good product at a very reasonable price, I can highly recommend this steamer.

Good product

Really good and easy to use, lightweight steamer baskets but be mindful of the steam when removing baskets, likewise the hot water left within the base afterwards - allow it to cool before emptying the water out. Definitely keep out of reach of kids and away from the worktop edge, stability is questionable as it’s tall and narrow. Don’t try to move it once it’s in use! We recently had our gas boiler removed and replaced with an Air Source Heat Pump so it seemed pointless paying a gas standing charge for just our cooker rings (ovens are electrical) and our gas fire which we don’t use anyway. I needed a way to cook things that we used to use the gas rings for, this steamer was bought to tied us over until we have a new kitchen in a years time. It is brilliant, easy to use it’s got a lot of power and does steam beautifully and even. You can cook enough for 4 people with Sunday Dinner servings. As an added bonus we can take this camping with us as we have an inverter in our van. Electric hook up. It’s already paid for itself in the 2 months since we had the gas capped off and removed by our supplier and the portable induction job we’ve also bought.

A bit small! It has a good quality, it cooks quite quickly but the water keeps coming out because the container is small! Ita easy to use and you can cook really healthy food

Brilliant steamer - little flimsy with the lids, although I’ll forgive that purely down to its performance of effective heating food through each tier. Be careful not to steam burn yourself as I’ve done many times, taking each tier off after cooking.

It does its job pretty well, although for me the cooking times in the leaflet are a few minutes short. It’s also reasonably easy to clean; all the parts other than the base have successfully negotiated the dishwasher. On the downside, however: the water level indicator is appalling. It’s just a bump moulded into the black plastic that forms the water tank, and it’s impossible to see especially when there’s steam from the boiling water that the manufacturers advise you to use. For this reason alone I wouldn’t buy another one or recommend it.
