At $40 this book is very overpriced for what it offers. You pay .37 a page for what is basically an introduction to what industrial control systems is plus the every other page advertisement to go take the SANS ICS 410, 418, or 515 that actually dives more into the details.If it was $20 then the book may be more palatable but even then it is just an oversized pamphlet for a SANS course.

So I purchased this book with the mindset and intentions to use it as the title suggested...as a FIELD manual.In my line of work, I always have to defer to the "end of days" scenarios and fall back on the example of the Planet of the Apes scene getting the hydroelectric power dam back online (only without the humans) using field manuals and SOPs.That is the use case for me when I have to train new employees in what we do, and this book is required reading.I appreciate the content as it is a great precursor of things to come.Thank to Dean for putting this together and making my life easier.
