Steams a good amount of veg!
I love this product. I use it daily and wash it by hand after. The fact that it is not metal makes it an wonderful inert product too cook with. Having the steamer has helped to improve our health and increase the veg portion sizes that we use. I love that it keeps the taste of the veg. After cooking with it I let it cool whilst we eat our meal and then wash up after, this reduces the chance of heat shock. The underside base of the pan is difficult to clean but the insides and the sides are easy. Remember not to put it on the maximum flame.I love this steamer and would buy it again.

useful item
I find this item very useful for everyday use for 2 people. I would have appreciated a larger size being available.

Bought to add and complete my set of Pyroflam equipment
I already owned the 3l version of this and the smaller 1l casserole dish so got this to complete the set as I have been so impressed with them. Now being able to steam on 2 levels at the same time is extremely handy but you have to rotate for even cooking. But I tend to put the longer cooking items at the bottom and you get used to judging the timing for placing quicker cooking items on top with a bit of trial and error considering the slower cooking on the upper level. Do bear in mind that when your heating anything other than water in these dishes, for example making a casserole, they are fairly thin by design so of course the contents next to the inner surface of the dishes can be sensitive to temperature which can lead to burning. Actually the material used is meant to be heated slowly on a low heat and holds temperature very well also so you can turn the power off completely and cooking continues for quite sometime. Very handy when preparing many dishes for a large hungry party as they keep food warm much longer than metal or normal bake-ware. Also because of these points always be careful as the handles are usually hot to hold too! These are now definitely the most used cooking tools in my kitchen whether on the hob or in the oven. Very easy to clean after a good soak also. Highly recommended

Disappointing
I bought this steamer set about a month ago, as it sounded great, the reviews were good and it’s so versatile. I was hoping this one set would replace about 6 items (steamer, casserole dishes and microwaveable dishes) and free up some space in my kitchen cupboards. I’m so glad I didn’t throw everything out as soon as this set arrived! I just can’t seem to get on with it.I’ve tried cooking a few things:Potatoes in the pot and veg in the steamer – the veg seemed to take FOREVER to cook (potatoes were falling apart by the time the veg was cooked) plus the water in the pan kept boiling over making a mess of the stove and sometimes even putting out the flames!Meatballs in just the white bit – tried to brown them on the hob before adding sauce, they kept sticking to the bottom and burning, it didn’t seem to matter what heat or how much oil was in there. Plus the cleaning afterwards was a nightmare, we tried a few times and kept soaking and re-soaking but still wouldn’t come off, in the end I had to scrape the remains off with a knife.Pasta in the white bit, veg in the top – again the veg to ages to cook, and the pasta stuck to the bottom and burnt, plus the water kept boiling over the edge making a mess and putting the flames out again.Along with the pan getting hot and needing oven gloves to lift the steamer to deal with burn pasta / over flowing water I found it quite difficult to use.I really want to like this item and may give it another go but so far I am very disappointed.

Looks good, sturdy product but...
This would be a great steamer if it wasn't for the fact that it is very inefficient, it takes ages for the water to come to boil (I now boil it in another pan and then transfer it) and most of the steam escapes out the edges on the join between the base and top section - as a result I have to have the gas on really high to get enough steam to pass through to actually cook the vegetables!

Best buy this year.
After a using electric steamers which have to be replaced after a couple of years, I decided to invest in an oven top one. Went to a local quality cookshop & purchased a good quality one, took it back after unpacking it - it fitted together so badly it was dangerous. Purchased a medium quality one from the high street, took it back after 3 weeks - it started leaking!!I found this on Amazon & read the reviews. Bought this set & 1 other basket. Brilliant.Even better quality than pyrex that I have been using for years.Down side. It is probably a little heavier than metal ones &, of course, it is breakable.I have since bought another extra basket & I have used it with the 3 baskets with no problems. It also looks good & can be left out on show.

Very efficient and looks nice too.
Really good quality item and steams things quite quickly. Nice not to have a metallic or plasticky tinge to my steamed veg. Easy to clean and overall good value I think.
