Bad experiences with app
This dongle itself seems okay. I was eventually able to get real-time data streams out of a 2017 Prius. I haven't had the opportunity to try it on older models or less mainstream brands. As others observed, the QR code provided takes you to a sketchy-looking website to download the app. I searched for it instead on Play Store (for a four-year-old Android phone), and verified that the app says it doesn't collect or retain data. But once I installed the app, it refused to do anything until I "registered" (giving an email address), and refused to connect to the dongle until I granted it access to "exact" location. Those are NOT pieces of information I want to hand out routinely, and I don't see why I should need to in order to USE A TOOL.With the aid of a burner email account, I did get this working on the Prius, and it displayed lots of data that seemed plausible -- engine temp, traction battery life, ignition count, and so on. But I'm not sure I'm going to keep using it, because it's already demanded more data than I wanted to give up, and I don't trust what it will do with my data.I can't recommend this product.

Good, not great scan tool dongle
The SETAWEEH Bluetooth Car OBD2 Scanner is a decent tool if you want to learn how to understand the health of your vehicle. It is a dongle-style scanner that plugs into the OBDII port under the dashboard and uses your smartphone to do the processing through an app. There is no instruction pamphlet but there is a QR code on the box that takes you to a website for downloading the app which is called YMOBD. It will download into your files so it is a different process. There do not appear to be any large or unusual files downloaded along with this app that I could tell. This app does appear in the Google Play store, so if you feel more comfortable downloading it from there, that is an option.Operation is simple. After downloading the app, plug the dongle into the OBDII port. The symbol on the tool will turn red until it is synced (via Bluetooth) at which it turns green. From there you may create a login or continue as a guest; the app does warn you that the guest selection restricts you from some features. Creating a login was straightforward enough. Enter your email, and a confirmation code is sent to your email. Enter the code and away you go. I used this on both of my cars, an older Chevy (2012) and a newer Honda (2019). It auto-read the VIN and I just put in the Make and Model. From there you can see everything from fuel trims to battery voltage. The app is beautiful and operates smoothly with real-time data. I did not experience any glitching or freezing. My phone is an Andriod and relatively empty, so that may make a difference.I have the Blue Driver scan tool (the best dongle-style scan tool in my opinion) and I compared the information that the SETAWEEH was giving. To my surprise, the information was almost identical between the two. Fuel trims, RPMs, and oxygen sensor readouts were all reading the same. The only thing that this tool does not do that the Blue Driver does is a deep scan into all system modules. The SEETAWEEH has a scan feature but does not scan everything which leads me to think it will bring up a check engine light code, but not an oddball historical code. For example: both of my cars have odd-ball codes where a light bulb went out or the cruise control sensor lost communication. The Blue Driver finds these codes and allows you to analyze them and/or clear them out. If they are recurring, they will come back on the scanner. The SEETAWEEH does not have this capability that I can see.All in all, the SEETAWEEH is a nice starter tool for a new driver or someone wanting to learn more about cars. There is a lot of information (some of which is explained in the form of information bubbles) that you can learn about the health of your car. However, if you want something with you that can help you figure out what's wrong with your car, or help find out if there is anything wrong with a used car before purchasing, get something a little more powerful like the Blue Driver.

Next generation scanner
I got this knowing that my harbor freight scanner would not recognize the code that my hybrid was showing. And guess what, it actually pulled the code. It didn't know what the code meant-it was some kind of proprietary thing, but when I googled it, hybrid system cooling valve error. Would recommend.

Couldn't get it to connect
Not much I can say. I downloaded the app but I couldn't get it to connect to the reader. I gave up after trying for over 15 minutes.

Unusable with ad-infested software
I had hopes but I should have read the software reviews first. I was, with some difficulty, able to get it connected to my phone via Bluetooth. I was suddenly bombarded with requests (bordering on demands) to upgrade the software. It was so persistant that I uninstalled the software and then read the reviews. The hardware is completely useless without the app and that app has some pointed and extremely negative reviews.Beware.

budget friendly OBD2 scanner tool
SETAWEEH Bluetooth Car OBD2 Scanner Adapter, Wireless OBD II Diagnostic Scan Tools for iPhone & Android, Enhanced Vehicle Code Readers with All System Scan, Live Data, Freeze Frame, Performance TestUsed with an iPhone, scan the QR Code that came with the device and download the YMOBD app from the App Store. One you have the app installed you either have to either click Confirm to create an account to login using only your email address, or click cancel to start using the app. Plug in the dongle to the OBD2 port, and wait for it to sync with Bluetooth (the light will turn green). This is a handy little device to have if you need to know why your check engine light is one.
