Great smoke detectors
These smoke detectors are easy to install and are easy to set up per room. I am a contractor, and these are a good choice.

Less false alarms
Friend of mine was telling me how her smoke alarms been going off for years. She said she paid someone to change them all but still has problems and has to open a window before she cooks anything. I told her the photoelectric ones have less false alarms, ordered her 3, changed them out and it’s been a few months now without a problem.

Which detector is alarming feature is not useful
Bought this because it says what room is alarming (there are about 8 or 10 pre-programmed rooms to choose from). Since this is wired into my house power supply, I thought ALL the detectors would announce which one was alarming, they do not. My roommates' candles set off the smoke detector in her room. All the alarms in my house went off, but only the one in the Guest Bedroom was announcing the alarm was in the Guest Bedroom.Announcing which room has the issue might be helpful if the battery needs replacing, other than that, not useful. I would not be willing to pay extra for this feature in the future as I did not find the room announcement feature useful.

Great quality and value!!
Wired up easy and was the best price I could find. Loud and able to program which room it is in so if the bedroom alarm detects it can relay across all to say where the trigger is occurring! I added these to a system of two carbon monoxide detectors and they function great together! Hard wired in so the batteries last forever!

Prone to random false alarms from dust
I replaced all 8 of my end-of-life ionization smoke alarms with this photoelectric model because I was trying to stop false alarms from cooking. Now instead I'm getting false alarms completely at random.Apparently photoelectric smoke detecters need to be cleaned monthly using a vacuum cleaner. This is to prevent false alarms caused by dust and insects getting inside the unit. They supposedly change how the LED blinks when they need to be cleaned. But even so, I started getting false alarms less than a month after installing them. I've had two units set the whole system off with no warning from the LEDs.My advice: skip the photoelectric smoke alarms and opt for ionization instead. It's much better to have a predictable false alarm from cooking than one that happens at random.I want my money back, but I'm past the return window, so it looks like I'm SOL!
