I have worked in telecommunications for over 40 years, so I know a bit about phones. I did not have too high of expectations of this device when I purchased it for my mom, however, this piece of equipment really impressed me. The set up was quite simple for anyone who has ever connected something to a wired or wireless network. On bootup, the large color touchscreen directs you through a simple set up wizard and we had the thing up and running in a few minutes. It was a bit cumbersome using the somewhat sluggish built in touchscreen keyboard to do the online registration, but we only had to deal with that the one time. The transcription works quite well, and the amplification on the handset can be set crazy high. The most surprising delight was when I discovered that this phone has a built-in answering machine. Not only was my mom able to retire her old answering machine, which she was unable to hear very well, but at the press of a button this amazing phone will transcribe the recorded message as well! It also very clearly displays all of the information about the call with the time date, caller ID caller name displayed clearly on the large color display. I did have to go into the settings and enable the phone to remember it’s last volume settings so that she did not have to continue raising the volume for every call. All in all, it’s probably the best $75 dollars I’ve ever spent.

Useful for individuals with hearing difficulties. Simple to set up and operate. No problems experienced with wireless connectivity or sound quality. The display is crisp and easy to read.

For some reason I missed the fact that this needs to have internet access, but it does. We have not tried WiFi, but the internet cable works just fine. The screen is nice and big and after some initial setup, it works great. The words are very accurate and seeing them helps for people who are hard of hearing

This phone has worked amazingly well for my husband for about 3 years then it just QUIT working ?? We ordered another bc it was easy to understand how to set it up. You do have to have a land line phone to connect to. Easy to hear and read the screen.

The setup is fairly easy and straight forward as long as you have Wi-Fi and internet service. I have used the phone only once thus far and the monitor worked very well. Customer must keep in mind that the speed and bandwidth of your Wi-Fi along with your internet service is going to determine how fast the words appear on the screen, so make sure you have an adequate speed and bandwidth when it comes to your internet service. I have a high frequency hearing loss and have constant ringing in my ears, so this purchase really helped me The only negative thing I can say about the phone is every time someone calls you, you have to adjust the volume every time. The volume does not stay at the level you adjusted it the first time, other then that this phone is perfect for my needs.

So I have never wrote a product review before but I was so impressed with this telephone that I had to say something. I got this for my dad who is 90 years old even though he has hearing aids he has a hard time hearing on the regular telephone and trying to pull up his contacts or add contacts that was almost impossible. So I took a chance bought this phone and let me say it was the easiest thing to set up it was set up within 5-10 minutes and not only that but my dad can add his own contacts and the speaker works great on it he can hear real well and when they type out the message it's almost exactly on point. The best thing about it though is that he can hear the other person on the other line with such Clarity that he doesn't even really need to use the written words as much. I already give this a thumbs up with a rating of five. Once again this is the best investment I have ever gotten for my dad and the ease of setting it up and him being able to understand how to use it is very impressive I recommend this to anybody that has any kind of hearing impairment because it really is true to what it says.

Bought this phone for my elderly mother. She has two hearing aids and it had gotten to the point I quit trying to talk to her on the phone because she could not hear. The basic phone is very nice. Was surprised to know that the captioning is actually done by a human. Shows I didn't do my research. The captioning response is a little slow, but once you get used to it very usable and the phone shows promise of really being a game changer. The phone is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi, but phone calls are over a phone cable to cable modem. My concern is its Wi-Fi connection. Last time my parents tried to use the phone it came back with a 'captioning turned off, press caption button to restart' type message. The caption button would not respond. Could not figure out with the manual what was wrong so called customer service. Our router is maybe 25-30' from this phone. Was told by customer service that is outside their recommended range for Wi-Fi to this phone. They recommend an ethernet connection (their home is not wired ethernet). She suggested I restart the phone. I did that and then went through the approximately five screens you have to go through every time the phone powers up and sure enough close captioning is back. As long as this does not happen often, we will keep the phone. Otherwise will return it. I would suggest not buying this device unless it will be on an ethernet connection.

This has been a great improvement for my hearing impaired father. The words are not always transcribed perfectly, but enough where you get the gist. We use this at work while taking appointments. It is also great to look up past conversations. Customer service was also 5 stars. I would definitely recommend

This product cannot be used in Canada. I was not told this when I bought it in November for Christmas for my deaf Mother-in-Law. It works off the internet which was another thing we were not told. So we made an appointment for someone to come out to set it up. So I had to miss work, pay for internet connection only to find out that it can't be used in Canada. I have sent at least 7 messages to the company and Amazon. To date I have not gotten a reply on how to return it. Every answer says they are looking into it. It's April now and still no reply on how to send it back. If you live in Canada DON'T BUY IT!!! D. Stewart

No able to use in UK

This phone should not be advertised on Amazon Canada site as it cannot be used in Canada at all. I also had to pay to ship it back as it did not work here. Not impressed at all

AS above. I suggest you no not sell phone in the UK,I have an Email from CAPTEL to confirm this If you can send an Email address I will send you a copy. If you know of a similar phone for use in the UK I would be interested. Regards. Angus
