It expands a lot. The package says 100x. I didnt measure, but it was close.

Does it make whatever it’s on wet?

It only moistens when it’s on something moist or it’s been consumed with a liquid. If it’s dry and it’s placed in a dry container or bag (it’s sold in dry packaging FYI) or left on a dry surface it’ll hold its texture, and remain dry. Also, remember since it’s activated with moisture, your atmosphere is important. If there’s moisture in the air, expect it to begin to dampen/soften depending on how most your air is. This includes hotter climates as well. It may just take longer to activate than it would if you place it directly on a wet surface or you’re adding water. Hope this helps
