Has anyone used this on a vinyl lined in ground pool? I'm concerned that the wing nuts are close to the side wall.

I'm happy with this over all but when i picked it up very rusty water came out. i do have a salt water pool. i did check the all the hoses and rubber?

Amazon says this pool filler needs to be replaced every 2 months. Why? I'm looking for a semi-permanent solution.

Idk where you saw that but it’s incorrect information. There is a rubber washer that needs to be rotated every 6 months for better life of the washer, not the unit. The washer can be replaced by ordering a spare one. I expect to get at least two years wear out of the washer if not more. The unit is very solid and I expect it to last years. I am super happy with it as it solved my problem of always having to top up my pool in hot weather. No more. I adjusted it to the pool level I wanted, hooked up a “Y” at my faucet and ran a separate hose to the filler. I highly recommend the fill-o-matic.
