Returning user (bitdefender total security)
I would never touch McAfee and Norton again. They tended to make my computer chugg, but more than that they spammed me endlessly, which wasn't appreciated. I don't like Bitdefenders interface much and the update procedure seems unfeasibly slow to complete, but the important thing for me is ... I don't suffer any annoying issues. Bit defender does also spam you a bit, but it's nowhere near as annoying as the other suites I mentioned.Example Norton issues : I make programs for a living, and Norton had an annoying habit of quarantining my service applications. For the most part I got around this by excluding a few folders, but I found that trying to maintain an archive of "customer installed software" was unmanageable. I eventually removed the features causing this problem on my main PC, but it took hours because the interface is REALLY pants. All my other machines didn't get updated as I just don't have the time. Recovering my lost files. I gave up as it was just too slow and problematic. (Each file took about 10 minutes to recover and there were too many to count)Example Norton issues : McAfee kept throwing up *massive* pointless messages (like "working in the background"). It religiously did this when I was trying to watch video's in iPlayer and the like. It used to drive me nuts as it felt like I was being trolled. I know that sounds silly, but I did feel trolled. If I went to close the notification it would vanish before I reached the close button. If I didn't try to close it, it would stay up indefinitely. Friends used to laugh when I reached for the keyboard, grumblingExample Bit Defender issues : It self promotes a bit too much, that's about it. I've had no major or minor issues in the last two years, so I bought a new subscription. One thing I will say, I got the premium VPN option this time. I wouldn't say I use it a lot, but the 200MB limit on the non premium VPN product was a bit too restrictive. with all the graphics, unwanted ads & random auto playing videos you get on websites these days, 200MB can sometimes vanish before you've done anything much on line.

The product is good, but implementation is not for those with no IT experience
I think this software is really aimed at IT professionals. As the owner of an SME I have to wear many hats, including managing my own computers, but struggled with this. Luckily I have IT literate millenial sons, one of whom set this up properly after I messed it up.
