Photography Degree Zero: Reflections on Roland Barthes's Camera Lucida

“Photography Degree zero” presents 13 critical essays written over the past 30 or so years on “Camera Lucida”, probably Roland Barthe’s most cited and controversial text. Translated from the French original, “Camera Lucida” is not the easiest book to read or follow and I found “Photography Degree zero” gave a great insight into the interpretations made by a series of American and British academic from various disciplines and helped considerably with my understanding and interpretation of the original text.
