I like using refractometers for checking antifreeze. This refractometer is less than $20 and it gives you the ability to use one tool to check your antifreeze, your battery, your windshield washer fluid, etc.Really can't go wrong for something so inexpensive that does so much. Neighbor was just told by the dealer that he needed a new battery so I'm off to check his battery later tonight. I'm guessing that his battery is fine, but now I can verify it.The prism is very easy to read, white at the bottom and blue above, no confusion. Absolutely recommended tool for any gearhead.

Says my coolant is -30°F in a easily readable scale. Used tap water to check calibration and no adjustment was necessary. Very happy with this product.

nice as expected.

After calibrating the refractometer (easy, just follow the instructions) and making sure for the insrument and the glycol (in my case) to come to the same temperature (as per the instructions) the instrument is simple to use and accurate.
