Not for me
My cholesterol always comes back over range, prompting GP advice to lower my fat intake. Low fat diet has never made a scrap of difference though, so thought I'd try these Berberine capsules instead. Unfortunately, couldn't take them for long enough to know if they lowered my cholesterol due to unpleasant tummy side effects. If you've not tried berberine supplements before, I'd suggest starting with just one capsule a day to see how it does or doesn't affect you. If all seems ok, gradually work up to the recommended full dose of three per day.

Misleading label: 300 mg per capsule; 900 mg per three-tablet serving
SMUG Supplements 'Berberine 900 mg'contains 60 vegan capsules, each providing only 300 mg of Barberine-HCL not the 900 mg suggested on the front of the packaging. Supplements can be a nightmare as there doesn't seem to be strict standards and regulations enforced, and sellers will try to dazzle you with the largest number possible, which often turns out to be per serving, not per capsule; this is one of those cases, where the suggested daily serving is THREE capsules delivering 900 mg of Berberine—always read the nutritional information very carefully! The capsules come in a resealable, letter-box friendly, bag which was easy to open and reseal. They are easy to swallow and the directions on the label advise to "take three capsules a day, with a full glass of water". Berberine appears to have a good body of research supporting its suggested benefits; most studies suggest taking 900 to 1500 mg per day, with a meal or 30 minutes prior.According to the ingredients list on the label, brown rice is used as a bulking agent. The label indicates that this supplement is made in Britain, and provides the seller's name and address, website, and batch number. Although the Amazon item page states these are manufactured to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, there is no mention of this on the packaging, or on their website. Similarly, there is no indication of these supplements being tested for potency, safety and purity. There is no allergy advice section.Although Berberine is generally considered safe and to have only mild side-effects (e.g. nausea, stomach upset), it can interact with several types of medication and it may increase their effects (e.g. slow blood clotting, lower blood glucose levels, and lower blood pressure), their side effects, or lower their efficacy. Berberine should not be taken in conjunction with any immunosuppressive drugs as it can cause toxicity. The shelf-life from receipt was 36 months, which is excellent. At the time of writing the price for these capsules works out at 30 pence per three-capsule serving, or 10 pence per 300 mg capsule.
