Very good quality - far more reliable than cheaper models
Very good quality - far more reliable than cheaper models, two of which have failed on me in the last couple of years (by over-extending when stuck in deep mud or collapsing while crossing a river). Being lightweight is an added bonus.

Then I tried a cheap one which broke pretty soon but I appreciated its usefulness
Once upon a time I thought walking poles were pointless. Then I tried a cheap one which broke pretty soon but I appreciated its usefulness. The Fizan Compact pole I bought as a replacement was a revelation !!!So light and yet so strong with 5* quality. Now I wouldn't use anything else.Highly recommended - Once tried you'll wonder how you ever managed without one or a pair.

Very light yet strong walking sticks
Very light which is ideal when taking them abroad. The grip is also very good. I was not used to walk with sticks before but I can say that it made a difference.

There are lots of cheap poles at half to price which are much better but are longer
I bought the Fizan katmandu compact poles and they are light. very small in diameter and collapse when you are struggling down hill. The lightweight poles means that the diameter is tiny so you cannot twist it hard enough to stop the bottom section colloapsing. It you twist it tight , it wont come undone with wet hands. There is no chance of making them work in the rain if you want to put your weight on them. I tested and tested the pole in my office after a failure on a trek and could not make them support a fraction of my weight. There are lots of cheap poles at half to price which are much better but are longer. If you want a compact travel pole then don't forget most poles will come apart for packing and when you need them will give better service. Ok poles for walking on the level, not for stopping you fall going down hill. I bought some cheaper but slightly longer Trekright traveller compact ones which are brilliant. I've given the Trekright ones some serious tests down steep slopes on dodgy knees
