Well designed storage device, secure, but NOT encrypted
So what is Trezor keep metal? IT's a method for me to add my recovery seed, my menomic seed phrase which is a an encrypted version of my private keys to a safe metal hardware store device. Trezor keep metal is built with aerospace grade stainless steel with a black finish, it's resistant to almost anything. The internal cylinder has 6 faces (hexagon)with 4 words per face each with 26 punchable letters across. Ok, so I have to put the first 4 letters of each word of my seed phrase on each of the 6 faces. Each letter is punched in with the included high quality punch. I can also pre mark each letter with a marker as a pre run.Ok, so there is no encryption on this device, only a tamper proof seal that sticks onto the lid after it's been sealed up. However in terms of storing your seed phrase it does provide and excellent bulletproof (literally) method of keeping that all important seed phrase secure.I was very impressed with the workmanship, build quality and simplicity of use. I would add that Trezor provide an excellent video and instructions and it's really work viewing these before using tgis device, as once the letters are punched, you can't undo the mark, as it's permanent.Always store this Trezor metal somewhere safe and secure, as once it has been opened anyone will be able to look up the words, as there is only one work corresponding to each words first 4 letters that I have punched in. IF you're into crypto, you'll understand BIP39 etc.A great way to store my seed phrase and i'm very impressed with the build and concept. Much better than paper that can be damaged and lost, this device adds peace of mind to crypto storage.

Massively over-engineered, which is no bad thing.
This thing is a beast. To say it has some weight to it is an understatement. It's the type of weight you'd feel even in a rucksack. Genuinely feels almost indestructible. That's not a criticism because dependent on the amount of money you have tied up in crypto it could be a very sound investment.Highly recommend you read the instructions, or better still scan the QR code and watch the instructional video. There are other videos out there on YT that offer a user-centric view of how to use it.The kit comes with a pre-marker pen to initially mark out your key lettering. Once you have it marked and you have triple checked it is correct you move onto the included spring-loaded punch tool. One thing I really like is that the box this kit arrives in is moulded to hold the Seed Recovery Key securely, making it much easier to use the punching tool. Once you press down with enough force the punching tool will stamp each letter of your key permanently, which is why you need to check and re-check you have pre-marked all your letters correctly first. The kit also comes with tamper-evident stickers to seal the device. There's even a hollow in the very centre of the device for you to roll up your recover seed card and store it inside with a special t-shaped tamper evident sticker for added security. Each sticker has a unique code printed on it meaning you can verify if anyone has accessed your seed code. There's clearly been some thought gone into the design of this thing. It's expensive, there's no doubting that, but you can see where the money has been spent. The quality of materials and machining alone would eat up a good chunk of the purchase price. It's also a permanent way of marking your seed code. You could genuinely open this thing up in 500 years and the code will still be evident. If you have need of such a device then this is pretty good. Just be sure to set some time aside when punching it. No need to rush. Get it right, do it once.

Virtually indestructible record of 24 seed words
Crypto recovery seeds are 12 or 24 words randomly selected from a published list of 2048 words, beginning "abandon, ability, able, about, ..." etc. These "BIP39" standard list of words have the characteristic of not sharing the initial four letters between any words. To obtain the 12 or 24 words of your wallet seed, you only need to know the first four letters to lookup the corresponding word in the BIP39 list. For example "A B I L" can only match "ability".The Trezor Keep allows you to record the first 4 letters of 24 words by punching out letters from a metal frame that's held within a virtually indestructible and sealed metal tube. Clearly it's designed to survive a house fire or flood which could destroy paper records.Note that there's no encryption aspect to this, so anyone who has physical access to the Keep can lookup the 24 "BIP39" words; there are tamper-evident stickers supplied which aim to show if the tube had been unscrewed. There's also the option of putting the paper record of the recovery seed within the inner core of the metal frame and placing an tamper-evident sticker over that.Needless to say, punching 96 tiny letters is quite tricky plus you only get one chance per letter. To help you, the Keep comes with a pen to mark out letters before using the spring-loaded punch. You'll likely to want to triple-check the pen marks, use a magnifying glass and take it slow!As mentioned, there's no encryption in this solution so you'll need to think carefully about who you inform about the Keep, where it's stored etc.Expensive yes, but pretty much guarantees you'll never lose the recovery seed to a crypto wallet.
