Castles of Mad King Ludwig Expansions 2nd Edition by Bezier Games, Strategy Board Game for 5 Players, Ages 13+

I love the base game of Castles of Mad King Ludwig but some of these expansions take it to the next level. AND the pieces all fit in the big box Bezier game box for the base game, if you have it. Otherwise, the expansion box comes with Gametrayz for the pieces—an absolute game changer for this game! The value for this collection of expansions is fantastic and the quality is top notch. The rules are easy to learn and teach. The printing is clear and colorful. Highly recommend rounding out your Castles game with this addition! I have not played the renovations expansion but loved the moats and secret passageways!!!

It adds quite a bit to the base game like secret passages, moats, etc...It may be a LITTLE bit pricey for what you get, but it does expand the original game by quite a bit! And, the designers had the forethought to design the base game box to include enough space for the expansion trays.*Please note, if you buy the second edition base game and this expansion set, then you do NOT need the "Secrets" expansion set, this pretty much includes all of that already, and the artwork matches the 2nd edition base game, too.

I love this game. I was excited to get the expansions, however, I didn't realize you need the 2nd edition of the game for these and I have the 1st edition of the game. I was able to make it work, but it is a bit awkward because the cards are different sizes and the score board is set up differently. We are also missing the swans.

If you like puzzly games you will love this. We also bought the expansion which is great if you are going to play it more than a little.

If you have an "old" copy of the original game, be warned that this is not easily compatible. Most drastically the card sizes are different. I'm not impressed with the company requiring people to buy a second copy of the original game to be able to use the expansion. I wish I had realized before I opened the game, as I would return it. It's too bad because the expansions are really fun!
