Bought this product to use for my boyfriends bead balm.. 1 lb of Natural and Unrefined Shea Butter by the Shea Trader, it has a very nice feel to it , oily without leaving a big residue leaving your skin soft to the touch.This would be great if you have dry hands. This is my first Shea butter so I have nothing to compare it to. You can use shea butter in different kinds of products for hair or skin care which is why I was using it to make a beard balm and also I plan to use it along with Castile soap to make some beard wash. I do love DIY and this is perfect for it.. It does have a peculiar smell , which may be just the natural smell , like I said I have nothing to compare it to. The one beard balm I did make I used essential oils with and it turned out nicely .. It gives the balm a bit of a nutty smell which is quite nice when making manly soaps and such. Will purchase again when I run low, which I don't believe I will run out for a while because a little goes a long way. Dave ( boyfriend) has only used the balm for a couple of days but I can tell a major difference in the softness of it.. I can't keep my hand out of his beard . I do recommend this for price and quality.

I make many items handmade with my small scale business from home. I ordered this shea butter on the reccomendation of a friend as an ingredient for a lotion recipe we had worked up together.The item in general (I ordered a total of 3 via multiple orders, they came 2 in one package 1 in another package) arrived packaged well (both times) and was always packaged well with care.The container is a nice sturdy, round container that stores easy in my supply tub for body products; when i tested it I found the consistency creamy upon conditioning, non-greasy and easy to clean up (small disclosure: i wasn't paying attention and knocked the tub off the table i was working at lol).Overall i have found this product to be good quality and am happy with the results when i tested it, it shows promise as a base ingredient!highly reccommended <3

I recieved the shea butter on time in perfect condition. It was packed in a larger box along with another item I ordered. The butter itself was in a plastic bubble wrap envelope.Plain shea butter is a different animal than the large number of product sold that simply contain some portion of ahea butter. It has a distinct, but in no way loud or over-whelming smell. A drop or two of an essential oil seems as though it would be enough to mask it if you need to do that.It can be difficult to scoop out, especially if you forget and leave it in your hot car and it has to re-solidify. ( Note: the container I have is not completely leak-proof, so some of the melted shea butter seeped out around the jar lid edges. It was upright in a cup holder, so no big deal for us. I could see that being a big deal if it were tilted or in a bag with some clothing.) We scoop a little out and let it warm up in our hands to soften for applying.All that being said- this stuff is GREAT! We are a very dry-skinned family with varying textures of hair. All of us can use it on both our skin and hair.

So I researched Ivory Shea butter and found out IT DOES SMELL! If it didn't I would probably be concerned. Either you can deal with it or you can't. I don't like it but it does fade (at least for me) not necessarily in the product I used the Shea Butter to make but after the application of the product. Yes it can be greasy depending on how it's used. Just like coconut oil it can be very greasy if used straight. I use my Shea butter with black African liquid soap and make a face wash. I use a concentration of 4:2 so that there is a little moisture in there and the soap doesn't dry my skin out. I don't have to apply moisturizer after I wash my face either. It cleared up my acne and has helped shrink my pores as well as my skin is soft and smooth. Everyone is different and washes and lotions should always be adjusted and customized for individual use. Just because it works for me it might give you a whole different outcome. I've read about the packaging for this product and mine arrived fine. It had a seal and was not cracked. It is kind of gritty, sandlike. When I've mixed it up I have not had to heat it. It is easy to work with. Once again it does have that Shea Butter smell be prepared. Anyway the one thing I do not like about this company is the label very basic and uninformative. If you blow up the picture here that is it. There is nothing else. All in all the product has done what it is supposed to do and it's quality had proven itself. Either you like Shea butter or you don't. It is not for everyone.

Great product! I saw a myriad of reviews on this shea butter and I have to tell you, unless there is a lot of inconsistency between batches (and I don't believe there is), I don't know where some of the complaints come from! This comes in a sturdy plastic container which can be washed and reused or recycled. The shea butter itself is fantastic! Smooth, silky and luxurious! It has a VERY, VERY, VERY minimal hint of a nutty, earthy scent to it naturally, but you can't even call it a scent it is so miniscule. I used it to make a batch of whipped body butter which I scent with essential oils anyway so it's a moot point. Maybe other reviewers who are using it just as a moisturizer for their skin could melt it down in a double boiler, add whatever scent they like, whip it up and put it back into this container to use! I have nothing but good things to say about this shea butter and I will be buying it again and again for my beauty products!

This had the most horrible smell. It ruined the whipped body lotion I made. I couldn't get the smell to go away. It didn't matter how many drops of essential oil I used. After over 60 drops and not a hint of fragrance, I decided not to waste anymore of my products or my time. Very disappointed. Thankfully Amazon refunded my purchase price.
