I'm an ER doctor that practices with adults and children. I use one of these in my practice in the emergency room and I've found it to be an immense time saver and benefit to patient satisfaction.With young children, getting your face in close enough to use a traditional otoscope can scare them enough to make getting an exam difficult, and also has the downside of being close enough to be coughed on, sneezed on, or vomited on. With this scope, I can let the child or parent hold the screen (to both distract the child and also allow them to participate in their own care) and get a high quality view without much fuss.For foreign bodies stuck in the nose or ear, this tool is a godsend. Things that previously would have required sedation and an ENT, I'm now able to do at bedside due to how much easier it is to use. The slim nature of the camera makes it much easier to work around with instruments than a non-operating otoscope, and a if need be I (a medical professional) can choose to remove the plastic guard cone and work with the bare camera to get more space to work with.Finally, I find that it really improves patient satisfaction when the patients or parents can see what I'm looking at. I find that I get far fewer disagreements about "can I get antibiotics just to be sure", when they personally saw that the ears looked fine. Similarly, seeing just how bad the inside of the ear looks can sometimes convince someone to accept antibiotics when they otherwise would not have. It also helps to solve the "but doctor, you didn't do any tests?" problem that can happen when you make the diagnosis based on just your exam.From a pure technical standpoint, I'm happy with the function of this device in particular. Used for a few minutes a couple of times a day the battery lasts for weeks between recharges. The image quality is very good for a consumer device. It's not as good as a $10,000 Olympus or STORZ scope, but is comparable to the single use AMBU or B-Flex flexible scopes that ENT uses at my institution. Like most digital scopes, the focus distance is fixed and the depth of field is shallower than that of a handheld manual scope, particularly when very close. This means you may have to do a bit more moving around to get the view you want but might not have to go in as far as you would with a traditional scope. My one thing I don't like about this scope is the auto-white balance, which adjusts the display brightness and contrast to compensate for the brightness of the camera light. This is fine most of the time, but can sometimes cause a situation in which the reflection off the TM makes the rest of the view difficult or the changing reflections off a water drop causes enough havok that you can't see anything as the display keeps adjusting. In rare cases, it can also wash out the color of erythematous tissue, making it appear white. These aren't dealbreakers for me and can typically be worked around, and I still have a standard otoscope to fall back on if it doesn't. Overall 9/10.

I thought I had a bug in my ear and trying to match a doctor appointment with the exact time I feel it in my ear is impossible so I took matters into my Owen hands and baught this product! I viewed the inside of my ear and visualized my ear drum how cool I did not see a bug but wax but I’m still in amazement how well it works and Takes still PHOTOS and VIDEOS now I can show my doctor if this bug does show up eventually lol

I could see my ear drum clearly on my left ear but not my right ear. I am not medically trained and went to the doctor the next day. I explained to the Doctor I was not sure what to look for and she explained it took her years of practice to 100% accurately diagnose . The Doctor also mentioned I have very narrow Ear Canals. My right ear drum which I could not see was slightly inflamed . With that knowledge and what the Doctor told me I feel I would only have limited use and returned. I also feel due to my very narrow ear canals this specific otoscope would not work for me. The packaging and concept I feel was good. The camera piece due to price point was probably a bit wide for me to get a good picture at least on my right side. I believe it may work for others and especially if thru practice and experience you know what to look for. It may not work for people with narrow ear canals. The return was 100% seamless and rate 4 stars.

Just purchased this otoscope-camera. So far, I'm very satisfied with it's performance. It has meets my expectations.The device itself is easy to use; but the quality of views obtained with the camera can depend on external factors: the user's skill, the size & shape of someone's ear canals, etc., can work for/against what you can see in use.Finally, while this otoscope costs more than the smart phone scope/camera combinations, this stand alone unit doesn't require installing any apps on your phone which want to be given access to your personal info.

I don’t think we will ever have to go to the doctor to check on an ear infection again! I can send him a picture from this device snd he can guide us over the phone. Because we have frequent ear issues, this is so helpful in monitoring progress and checking for inflammation so we can treat it before it gets infected. The Picture is very clear, light is great, and it’s easy to use. YouTube has great tutorials to learn more about what a healthy/unhealthy eardrum looks like and since antibiotics don’t help clear viral ear infections, this device gives me more confidence in using natural remedies because I can track healing from home.

Works good the picture isn’t as clear as I thought it would be but it is pretty clear.
