Yes they fit flush to the wall standing 22mm proud. Ive fitted several there very neat. I add a label stating the max load of 2Kw. Just in case sometime in the future. . .

The socket is mounted centrally on dual wall socket. The 4 way socket is 26 cm long. Hope this helps.

If original socket was wired correctly then no.

As described, it’s designed to convert a standard double socket to 4-way. This is what I did. But to start from scratch, you would need a standard box for a double socket!
