I bought these dowels as I was making a rather tall, 3-D character cake and wanted to use something that would definitely take the weight of all the cake tiers. These hollow dowels definitely fit the bill. They were easy to cut--I marked with a pencil and used a bread knife to saw through them--and the finished cake was very sturdy. I would definitely use them again!
