Will Toledo always knew he would return to Twin Fantasy. He never did complete the work. Not really. Never could square his grand ambitions against his mechanical limitations. Listen to his first attempt, recorded at nineteen on a cheap laptop, and you’ll hear what Brian Eno fondly calls “the sound of failure” - thrilling, extraordinary, and singularly compelling failure. Will’s first love, rendered in the vivid teenage viscera of stolen gin, bruised shins, and weird sex, was an event too momentous for the medium assigned to record it. Early next year, on the heels of the smashing success of Teens of Denial, Car Seat Headrest will release a new version of Twin Fantasy. “It was never a finished work,” Will says, “and it wasn’t until last year that I figured out how to finish it.” He has, now, the benefit of a bigger budget, a full band in fine form, and endless time to tinker. According to him, it took eight months of mixing just to get the drums right. But this is no shallow second take, sanitized in studio and scrubbed of feeling. This is the album he always wanted to make. It sounds the way he always wanted it to sound. It’s been hard, stepping into the shoes of his teenage self, walking back to painful places. There are lyrics he wouldn’t write again, an especially sad song he regards as an albatross. But even as he carries the weight of that younger, wounded Will, he moves forward. He grows. He revises, gently, the songs we love so much. In the album’s final moments, in those apologies to future me’s and you’s, there is more forgiveness than fury. Kinda too fast
good album but i think it might be too fast like the album is sped up on vinyl it feels like 😭

High quality
If you're buying this CD, I assume you already love the album, so to just speak for what you're getting and its quality: The case is a thick paper cardstock that holds up very well. It opens as a trifold and features a small piece of art and short poem by Will printed on the back of the cover. The full credits including the core band members and guests appearing on various tracks are also printed. You get both Face to Face (2018) and Mirror to Mirror (2011), the audio quality being superb for each. Tucked inside is a very stylized pamphlet featuring the art set spoken of in the outro of High to Death 'The Lady' by Hojin Stella Jung. Each painting of the set is placed alongside each track's lyrics. The lyrics themselves are written characteristically and uniquely, with references and artistic style throughout. Each track title has a short subtitle beneath that gives a bit more context to the Twin Fantasy narrative. Overall a fantastic CD and well worth a purchase if you love the album.

Car Seat Headrest my beloved <3
I bought this used from a Goodwill in Seattle and I'm so glad I did. CD was in absolutely STUNNING condition (mint in plastic film!!) and plays extremely well, Twin Fantasy has always been one of my favorite albums so I'm overjoyed to have it both on CD and Vinyl :3

Literally a great album
I used it in my car. It played. What else do you want me to say. It came with the original 2011 version too , which is cool. Otherwise this is literally one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s production is amazing, the songs are energetic and full of life and wit, it’s really just amazing.

Pretty good.
The vinyl sounds pretty good. The only quarrel that i have is that, at least on the copy that i received, half of "Stop Smoking" was scratched, causing a tick sound everytime it hit the gash. There was no skipping, however. The gatefold jacket is extremely high quality and feels good in the hand. Overall a good pressing and a worthwhile purchase

Just want to say that this has nothing to do with the seller. They sent it brand new and the package for shipping was great. I'm just slightly disappointed that I happened to receive a record with pressing defects (the little bump / bubble in the picture). Everything was fine until I got to side D and it started to have loud noises and skip a few grooves. I just contacted the seller and I'm waiting for a response from them.
