The 80-20 enlarges and redirects 20% of the light at a 90° angle from the flash and allows 80% of the light to pass on, to be redirected by another surface -- most likely a ceiling.Application: This device illuminates the scene with light bouncing off the ceiling while providing "fill" light off the bounce device itself. For use in situations where an 8-9 ft. ceiling is available.Light Loss: Variable depending on ceiling height.Dimensions: Folds flat to 4 1/2" x 7 1/4".

Absolutely excellent within limitations
I've used a number of different reflector/diffuser attachments for on-camera flash over the years, including softboxes, sto-fen style diffusers and a couple of different Lumiquest "scoop" style reflectors (similar in design to this one but with a solid reflector surface), and after a month of ownership, this one is already my favourite.Given the presence of a suitable ceiling to bounce light off, this works brilliantly - most of the light passes through the perforated reflector surface and bounces off the ceiling, with a proportion pushed forward by the reflector web to fill in shadows under the eyes and nose. The overall effect is much softer than normal on-camera flash, and is much more battery-friendly than ordinary bounce flash. Used with a handheld flash on an off-camera cord, this reflector can give results similar to soft window-light.Two limitations to bear in mind:1) You absolutely need a reasonably low, light-coloured (preferably white) ceiling for this to work. I've had good results in rooms with 8-10 foot ceilings, but this reflector would be of little use in a big hall or a room with a dark painted ceiling, and no use at all outdoors.2) Because it relies partly on bounce, diffusion is little harder or softer depending on how high your ceiling is and also whether you're standing or kneeling. However, even at its "hardest," it still softens the light more than most other diffusers I've used.
