Overpriced dried out brittle insulation
Absolute junk. The insulation was purchased for a project on the weekend. The insulation pretty much fell apart as soon as I unpacked it. There is nothing adhesive about this product. In fact as soon as I removed the plastic wrap the roll unwound. As a weekend project I did not have time to delay another week or more going through the return/repurchase process. The intent was to complete this on the weekend.Solution: used a full tube of contact cement to adhere the fragile insulation to the fireplace insert and buy something different next time.It would be immensely cheaper to just buy a full roll of heat resistant insulation and cut to the size you need.

Perfect!
Worked perfectly for insulating a smoky fireplace surround. I had a new chimney liner installed when I purchased my home last year. But when I started using the fireplace this last season I noticed smoke marks on my newly whitewashed interior brick. Researching what could be causing this...everyting from negative air flow in my house to needing to replace the surrounding door insulation. When I removed the door I found that I didn't need to replace the insulation...there wasn't any there to replace! This insulation kit worked perfectly! I did purchase two kits to double insulate..but I'm just that kind of girl. One covered the whole insert.

Nice Product
My fireplace door was installed with the insulation that came with the door, but I still had gaps that needed to be filled. I bought this insulation and peeled the insulation in layers and stuffed them in the gaps between the brick and the door. It worked great. I can't comment on how well the adhesive worked on the tape since I didn't need to use it.

Why does it cost so much?
The dark color is nice around a fireplace, but why is it so expensive compared to pink insulation?
