BCB SURVIVAL MATCHES (1 X 25 MATCHES)

Not a lot to say. The matches light easily, burn intensely, if briefly, and fit into a tinder box with no trouble. From experience, I would recommend sealing the top to the body of the container with waterproof tape to ensure that persistent damp doesn't affect the matches. For some reason, hurling them into the sea doesn't affect them but long-term damp does.

Lighthweight, small, very well made, almost impossible to be put out by the wind, but the one change I'd made I would add some of this scratchy thing inside, under a cap, so it's also dry.

It was blowin a storm, actually a named storm in December. I was sat back to a cliff face snuggled under a verra solid overhang. Dry but cold with 30mph winds even in my sheltered spot. Could a light my stove due to the wind, these matches worked well. Lit easy and scorned the wind, managed to get the gas burner lit and heated up my water. I'd tried windproof lighter, swan vesta matches, butane lighter, they all failed. The flame from these BCB matches survived an did the job that nothing else could do.

Overall a reasonably good product but there are some downsides. The actual matchstick doesn't seem very sturdy; a test strike saw the stick snap off just below the ignitable portion. While the little screw-topped plastic tub seems like it would be suitably waterproof and keep the matches dry, the striking surface is actually on the outside of the lid so, if you were using these in wet conditions, or dropped the tub into water, this striking surface itself would be soaked! Also, the matches are so tightly crammed into the tub it is hard to get the first few matches out!

Got these as a stocking filler. Look ok. Strike pad on top of screw lid.

Much better quality than the slightly cheaper Chinese equivalent.

Extremely hard to light the matches in the first place in adverse weather

Bought for DofE and found them very difficult to light in adverse weather conditions. Nearly all of them broke and the strike pad tore and wouldn’t strike when wet. Disappointed to have spent so much on these matches.
