Slippery platform is a problem
The unit is easy to put together. Good instructions. It works as expected except for the fact that the plaform is slippery and the chicken have a hard time standing on it. I also wonder how hot it will be in the summer. It will probably need to be put in the shade in order to prevent the chicken from burning their feet.Otherwise it does what it is supposed to do.

Lid does not close after chickens leave
The lid stays open after the chicken leave, so the mice have a lovely all-you-can-eat meal all day until I manually push the lid down in when I put the chickens to bed. Will be trying a different feeder.

The hinge is a little sticky, but it works pretty well overall.
First the assembly. My non-handy man husband actually put this together on his own without any help! It went together pretty easily, but do be careful with those sharp metal edges! He did have to work at getting one corner to line up, but the metal was just giving enough that it wasn't too much of a hassle. The lid doesn't quite close all the way on its own as it came, but with a bit of weight added to the hinge arm towards the front and the problem was solved.A few of our smaller chickens seem to be a little scared of it, but the fuller sized chickens have no problems with it at all. We've had it out in the weather for about 2 months. There are no signs of rust yet, but I'm worried that there will be over time. Especially where the parts rub against each other.Do I recommend it? Not really. If I saw it available at a fantastic price I would probably buy it again. I personally prefer our 5 gallon bucket with the feeding ports though.

Chickens were quick learners when hungry
Took a little bit of training for my chickens to get used to this style of feeder but when they were hungry enough they were able to figure it out. I primarily ordered this feeder to keep the rodents out of my feed at night. So far so good.... unless the rats get bigger! Great product that holds about a weeks worth of food for my 10 chickens.

Its a great idea but my chickens cant seem to figure it out.
I really liked the idea of the feeder but after trying everything I could think of to get the girls to eat out of it, Its time to go back to the hanging feeder. This feeder requires some assembly but it wasn't bad at all. Total time was about 10 minutes. Who knows, maybe your chickens can figure it out.

Holy wow!
It took a while to get my chickens to understand the concept of this feeder, but it absolutely works for inside their coop. It honestly seemed to scare them more than anything before they discovered it was filled with food. We'll keep an eye on it and how they use it. I'm not sure if my small silkie can work it herself, but we have other feeders as well for that reason.
