Q: How does this system work with standard 2x3 aluminum downspouts? I currently have Oatey diverter installed but wanted to add a first flush system

Q: Can the ball get lodged in the tube by debris?

If debris is large it is possible. The 3" first flush is a bit tighter than the 4". Do know this, smaller debris will clog the screen at the bottom before the ball will get lodged, this will make prevent/slow the initial bad water from draining properly. Also consider the amount of water you need to flush based on roof surface area flowing to the flush. Reduce debris that could clog the system with gutter guards not expensive and just put them on the gutters feeding the capture system. This will also help with the routine maintenance, you need to clean it out the sediment/small debris to keep it working at it's best. If you were wondering why you see fine screens offered with the system. Fine screen keeps small debris out of the drain screen allowing better draining and longer intervals between cleaning. Picking little twigs, pine needles and stems of leaves out of the drain screen supplied with the system is no fun. The fine mesh over this is a plus in so many ways. Hope this helps and good luck.
