Fantastic value for the price. Works great with standard 18650 cells.
These are great. I'm seriously impressed. The build quality is pretty good - certainly above average when you compare to the usual cheap three AAA flashlights. The aluminum feels solid and the machining is pretty good - the threads for the battery aren't perfect but they're a lot smoother and better than most. Certainly for how inexpensive these are, these are way better made than you would expect. Even the AAA holder cartridge is well made, solid contacts, and works really well. The switches click firmly and work reliably from the fiddling I've done so far. Obviously time will tell how well they hold up, but first impressions are good.I love the fact that these have two modes - on... and off. No super dim/blindingly overbright/disco inferno modes, just on - and off. They operate exactly how everyone on the planet expects a flashlight to work. Brilliant. I love it.The focusing mechanism is pretty smart. Sure, you can rotate it to slowly focus in and out, or you can just push and pull it and slide it up and down smoothly. It works well - I tend not to need focusing but it's nice to have and well implemented. They run great on NiMH AAAs, but the real reason I wanted these was that they can also use standard 18650 cells. Obviously you need a standalone battery charger, but, this means you can take advantage of the high power density and long life of li-ion batteries. And 18650's are so ubiquitous. I break apart old junk laptop batteries, frequently some of the cells are perfectly good - and a flashlight like this is the perfect application for a maybe kind of used/old battery. I took some cells salvaged from a decade old dead laptop battery and loaded a couple of these flashlights up with them - works perfectly. Nice and bright and the capacity will be a lot better than AAAs - even an old used worn cell like I'm using is about double the capacity of your average NiMH or alkaline AAA.So yeah - flexible, inexpensive, pretty well made, nice and bright - perfect. A great value for the price. Love it. I'm probably going to buy some more of these. It's always nice to have a flashlight handy - a proper one, that's bright and useful unlike the tiny thing on your phone - and these are cheap enough you can keep one everywhere.

Simple but Nice Robust Flashlight
I bought a quantity of six of these flashlights. They are very easy and simple to use. The on/off soft button is located on the butt end of the flashlight and is operated by pushing it inward and then letting it go. The width of the beam is controlled by sliding the front part of the light, which includes the lens and its housing, forward and aft. Most aft is the widest beam and most forward is the narrowest beam. The most aft setting gives floodlight illumination while the most forward is more focused and shines the light the greatest distance. The flashlight also comes with a lanyard so it can be hung on something. Battery insertion is accomplished by simply unscrewing the aft end of the light which holds the rear push switch housing, placing the batteries inside, then attaching the switch housing by screwing it back into the rear of the flashlight.Choice of batteries is two fold. First, the flashlights come with a AAA three cell plastic holder inside them. Inserting three AAA batteries into the holder and then inserting the holder into the back of the flashlight allows it to be powered by these style of batteries. The second type of battery that can be used is a single rechargeable 18650 lithium ion cell. Before putting the 18650 battery into the light, one of the plastic collars that are included inside the packaging that the flashlights come in, must be slid into the rear of each flashlight before the 18650 battery is inserted. These collars cause the 18650 batteries to be centered inside the flashlight because the diameter of the battery is slightly smaller than the interior diameter of the flashlight tube housing.Having just received them, I can't speak about long term reliability. Although I must say they seem robust in their design and manufacture. I would say that I really like the ease and simplicity of use, very nice quality of construction, and economy of these small but very bright hand held flashlights.

On or off, such a nice feature.
I have bought tons of flashlights, using my old vape batteries to run them. They are all fine, but the stupid funky modes urk me every time. I don't need a dim setting, don't need a strobe setting, I need a flashlight to be bright and just shine when I turn it on. These do that. And they are inexpensive for the lot you get. So far, I haven't had one fail, and if I do I have a few more to replace it.Everyone in the family asked me why I bought EVEN MORE flashlights, but after a few moments, at least the son got it (he quickly snagged one for himself).I will buy more eventually, as I am sure I will lose them all and be stuck with the crappy multi-mode ones. And I will be happy to make that purchase.

Basic on/off with no extra flashing light modes!
I love these. I bought 8 for myself and this time I bought 4 for my mom. I appreciate the basic push on/push off, none of the extra flashing lights etc. that some others have. Can use 18650 lithium cells, either button top or flat top! In an emergency could use 3 AAA batteries. cons: no USB charger cord port. That would be a plus... I got my mom a simple charger too.
