Raceway: Drag & Stock Racing (PS2)

My son and I are both big fans of real 1/4-mile drag racing, so when I saw this game I thought this would be great - we could challenge each other head-to-head. The budget label gave me some doubts, but I mean, how hard can it be to simulate driving it a straight line for 5 seconds, with the important emphasis on staging, gear timing and reaction time rather than on lifelike graphics? Well, apparently very hard. It is utterly impossible to not crash... If you don't touch the steering you veer off towards the barrier. If you do touch the steering to try and correct this, you veer off to the other barrier. The oval racing is just as bad - there's no skill/difficulty settings, and the cars are all as fast as yours, so clip the barrier or another car once and you're left racing 20 laps all on your own. Could have been so good. Turned out to be utter pants.
